Happy Stars and Stripes Day!!! #4thofjuly @lynn_yati @viki.hairstylist_ @silenceoftheglam
My YaiYai passed away on Monday. Maria Kanellis, my synónymos, was 95 years old. YaiYai was an incredibly strong, hardworking, and fearless woman from Sparta, Greece. YaiYai never learned to drive so when she would babysit us, we would walk everywhere. And even still she would be in a skirt, blouse, scarf, clip on earrings, and kitten heals. She used to garden with her bare calloused hands and a kitchen knife in a skirt and loved to play cards while drinking ouzo. She and my Papou came to America to build a life together and they did. An incredible life, YaiYai and Papou were married for over 60 years, they owned 2 restaurants, raised 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and had 8 great-grandchildren. Papou passed away in 2020 but, I’m sure they are together again. Arguing loving about whether or not the door is closed or about the coffee. Declarations of nai. But S’agapò just as much. YaiYai called my husband Mike, the fighter. But, in the end and all through life she was the real fighter in the family. YaiYai defended her family fiercely and I heard many stories of kindness from her surviving siblings at her funeral yesterday. The last thing I said to my YaiYai was “it was a good life” because it was and it is. I cannot imagine the sacrifices that my grandparents must have made leaving behind everything they knew. I am sad she is gone but more than that I am grateful. So grateful for the years. Grateful for this beautiful life. Grateful for the sacrifices because you gave us the good life. Now Rest. You both gave everything to us. And I’m grateful. S’agapò YaiYai.

My tough girl fell hard on her face. She scrapped up her nose, knee, and hand. Got up and kept saying I’m okay until she was okay. Now, I’m telling myself I’m okay too until I’m okay. Kids have a way of inspiring everyone and everything around them. They are incredibly resilient and tough. I wanna be that tough.
Indianapolis!!!! We don’t know anything as far as my health is concerned but what I do know is I can’t sit at home waiting. So, since Mike has the weekend off we are going to soak up the sun with these beautiful kids.
Waiting… #thyroidproblems #adrenalhealth #part2

Bye bye vacation… sunburnt, broke, and tired. (Exactly the way every @waltdisneyworld and @universalorlando trip ends. #blessed
Mike says I scare people because I know who I am. The funny thing is I’ve never been more scared because I know what I want and it will cause problems but there are babies staring at me and a world of possibility. But I keep ignoring the later trying to protect their future. Scared to start seems like a great way to kill potential and feed insecurity. This is my mountain. Time to climb. Find footings in dark places. New spaces.
