More canary spam incl. video of eagle (?) flying in the canyon. I can’t express how grateful I feel this time around (this not being my first January sun-seeking holiday) for the injection of light, warmth, sea-swimming and just visual feast of green that we got on this trip. Coming from the grey wintry city of London into that reminded me of Dorothy stepping into technicolour Oz. Vitamin D levels feel sufficiently topped up to get us through to Spring. Coincidentally but appropriately – whilst there, the book I read was “The Beginning of Spring” by Penelope Fitzgerald, which was just a wonderful, mysterious delight and will now forever be associated in my mind with that island, and being able to see green mountains from where I was lying on my bed (pic of this view in last slide.)

Hiiii it’s been a while sorry couldn’t handle it 😬 BOOKS: – All New People by Anne Lamott – Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott – On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong – Just Kids by Patti Smith – A Swim in A Pond in The Rain by George Saunders
With all the hate spreading right now, I thought I would share this simple photo from my dog walk today. To take a leaf out of Maria’s book in The Sound of Music (my favourite film) (quite topical given what we are facing rn) – I give you, raindrops on roses💧🥀
May or may not have wept editing this reel because I imagined watching it after she passes away whilst Maggie in real life who is fully alive and well sat on my lap 🙏 P.s I have managed to lock myself out of @maggiethedogbaby insta account 😂
A flying visit to somewhere summer’s happening ❤️
A few camera roll snaps from the Marina Abramovic retrospective at the RA, now ended. The show was inspiring, moving and rallying. I also recently listened to her being interviewed on Desert Island Discs (very enjoyable in podcast form if you haven’t heard already) and really appreciate how much of a chatter she is. (In my head she was some sort of formidable demi-goddess.) One thing that I apparently needed to hear was her thoughts on sentimentality, which are damning – “Learn the lesson, and move on.” She said. There have already in 2024 been a couple of hurdles and I am going to try and practice this instruction live. Learning and moving on in progress 🙏

👏👏 Nell Hudson: actor, writer, jazz singer, feminist. 👑 You’ve loved watching her in Outlander, Victoria and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. You’ve loved listening to her at Ronnie Scott’s and on tour with Jools Holland. You’ve adored her writing in Just For Today. Now you can enjoy her mini seminar on what makes her furious. Nell is truly the voice of her generation, on everything from the pleasure gap to sexual staring, to men pretending they fancy her dog when they actually fancy her. 🤬🤬🤬 Her points are compellingly articulate and productive. And we want more more more. 🧡💙🧡
