In 2015, the United States added him to their list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists, and just last year, the European Union added him to their terrorist list too.
Deif was a key architect of Hamas’s terror infrastructure. He orchestrated numerous suicide bombings in the 1990s and 2000s, which killed and maimed countless innocent people. He oversaw the firing of thousands of rockets into Israeli towns and cities, causing widespread fear and destruction. He also masterminded the development and use of terror tunnels, which were used for smuggling weapons and launching surprise attacks on Israeli civilians and military targets.
The October 7th massacre was one of the darkest days in Israel’s history, a day that saw unspeakable violence and death. Let me be clear: October 7 could not have happened without Deif. He planned and executed this nightmare.
