I can’t believe this is where we are in our country. A member of the U.S. Congress can’t dare say Palestinians deserve to live and stop funding war crimes without being targeted by a U.S. based Israeli lobby group who suppresses free speech, funds insurrectionists, anti-abortion candidates, and anyone who is as obsessed as they are with ethnically cleansing Palestinians. Some folks won’t ever get it. @coribush is so real that she shook Congress. She literally walked in the House Chamber completely unafraid and only had one mission: save lives now. She isn’t just a congresswoman. She is a wife, a mother, a nurse, someone who knows how important access to abortion care and housing is because our systems failed her too. She never hesitated to call out state funded violence here at home and abroad. We are approaching the 10th anniversary of the tragic murder of Michael Brown, which sparked a movement in her district that helped birth the Cori Bush we see in Congress today. She is my personal hero. Always will be. I will always remember her call where she said, “You are not doing this alone, I got you.” I love you, Cori. I’m sorry the system failed you again.

Even though we were expected to win our Democratic Primary, it still made my heart so full to have one of the hardest working teams and committed volunteers out there, ensuring folks have access to vote. To see that they love our district as much as I do and understand what it means to lead with compassion was overwhelming at times. They all remind me why I do this work every day. Thank you all for your faith in me and for believing in this girl who grew up in Southwest Detroit to Palestinian immigrant parents who never dreamt I could be fighting for my residents in Congress one day. #RootedInCommunity

We held a discussion with local and state officials on the federal proposal to remove medical debt from appearing on credit reports that hurt our families for years to come. No one chooses to get sick. Medical debt never belonged on credit reports and should never ever be a way to target our families that can’t afford medical care. This won’t fix our broken and corrupt health care system, but we at least expose that harm to our families and protect them when we can. I welcomed the Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Rohit Chopra, who is leading the rule making process to prohibit medical debt from credit reports permanently. Appreciate our Livonia resident, Erika Price, and the following partners in this fight: @repstephanieyoung @repdingell @abdulelsayed @biryani_princess @westernwaynehealth @waynemetro and UM Poverty Solutions.

“Members of Congress like Rashida Tlaib come once in a lifetime. She is a leader who works endlessly to serve her beloved constituents and speaks truth to power in Washington on behalf of everyone in her district, all while being unapologetically herself. Common Defense proudly endorses Rashida and will continue to have her back as she fights for clean water for all, quality care for veterans, and dignity for the people of Palestine,” said Oscar Arbulu, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Deputy Political Director of @common_defense
Join Team Tlaib to phone bank for Congresswoman Cori Bush’s re-election campaign. Our team was on the ground this week in St. Louis, and it is clear that the pathway to keep Cori’s voice in Congress is in the field. We need to call all her supporters and ensure they have the information on where and when to vote. Help keep Cori’s courageous voice in Congress. Link in bio.
