Roxane Gay Instagram – My first conversation with my incredible editor, Roxane Gay, will be at the Westport StoryFest ’24. Roxane and I will be headlining (I never thought I’d hear myself say those words) on Friday Sept 20th at 7pm, talking about my memoir FRIGHTEN THE HORSES, and her imprint, ROXANE GAY BOOKS. The rest of the weekend will be filled with a bevy of established and up-and-coming authors, so please come and join us on the Friday night and stay for the rest of the panels, readings and events over the weekend! It’s going to be a literary extravaganza, and since it’s being organized by my lovely friend @jerzygrrl076 whose extremely enjoyable reels can be found at @westportlibrary, I promise you it’s not to be missed. (The last slide is of the cupcakes she made for me when I signed my contract with Grove, so you can see what an absolute gem of a person she is.)
At some stage I’ll be sharing an essay on the series of events that led to me having ROXANE GAY BOOKS on the spine of my memoir, but if you want to come and hear the story from the horses mouth (pun intended) please come and join us (link in bio for tickets.) Each ticket comes with a copy of the book—which I will personally sign for you with my very special magic pen that I will have dug out from the bottom of one of my children’s school backpacks the day before—plus entry for two people.
Roxane also has a new book out—DO THE WORK with Megan Pillow, a guide to understanding and navigating power while trying to create social change—so you can pick up a copy of her book at the event and go home with signed copies from both of us. Two for the price of one! (Well, actually, technically speaking, two for the price of two, but who’s counting?)
