I know how hard it can be when the elders of our community have a very different mindset on what is beautiful and sometimes perpetuate that backward mentality on to you. Comparing you to your nearest and dearest is like a special kind of Olympics for them 🫠 That’s why it’s so important to work on your self image and self love and know your worth so external opinions don’t make you buffer. We both spent ALL morning getting ready together, sharing our makeup, sharing our tips, helping each other out, getting draped by @drapingbyb akka and then just experiencing all the chaos that comes with brown events. Tbh it was so wholesome as cousins that live in two different states & don’t get to see each other as often. We know in many households comparisons take place and it can tarnish your relationships but remember to be so deeply rooted in loving yourself and seeing your worth nothing will taint how you see yourself 💗. If you are feeling low or insecure take THIS as your reminder EVERYONE is beautiful in their own complexion. Not to mention you’re also entitled to wear whatever saree your heart desires despite what a store owner, family member or individual says suits your complexion 😫.
