Dallas Goldtooth Instagram - As a father of non-binary children this story breaks my heart. Nex was Choctaw and what sounded to be an amazing and lovely person. My love and heart goes out to the family and relatives of Nex. Its disgusting that the family wasnt notified by the school. Its disgusting that oklahoma officials fueled anti-LGBTIQ sentiments leading up to this. Beyond the youth who committed the attack — the adults who foster anti-queer, anti-two spirit hate must be held accountable as well. #nexbenedict

Dallas Goldtooth Instagram - If this kills any chance of me being in a Taylor Sheridan production - I’d consider that a worthwhile response. Lol. Rich white dudes who love being white saviors ain’t my thing.

Let’s set the record straight. Taylor Sheridan, the creator of 'Yellowstone', and his film Wind River were NOT responsible for the passage of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and its protections for Native women—despite his recent statement in The @HollywoodReporter.

Sheridan’s claim is not only false, it’s harmful. This is yet another attempt to erase Native peoples from our own stories and ignores the decades of intense organizing and profound impact Native women, survivors, advocates, Tribal leaders and many more across Indian Country had in the passage of this law.

Instead, the film he gives so much credit to centers a white savior narrative, reduces the Native women characters featured to one-dimensional subjects, largely depicted only in scenes of brutal physical and sexual violence, and perpetuates the false notion that the homicides of Native women are investigated by authorities—all of which compound the MMIP crisis.

And this misrepresentation of Native peoples and issues is prevalent throughout Sheridan’s work as he fails to hire Indigenous writers or staff in any significant, decision-making roles on any productions that feature Native storylines rooted in our history and deep trauma.

Taylor Sheridan, you have an opportunity to change and use your influence for good. We encourage you to sit down, listen, embrace the truth and humble yourself. Your white savior narrative erases the work of Native women and Indian Country who fight for the safety and well-being of Native women, girls and people.

Indian Country will not stand for the false narratives you are promoting. The majority of Native peoples in the country agree— No More Stories About Us Without Us.

Dallas Goldtooth Instagram - Today is Pueblo Revolt Day! Much love to my Pueblo relatives who honor this day as a day of resistance!

On this day in 1680 began The Pueblo Revolt, also known as Popé's Rebellion or Popay's Rebellion. It was an uprising by most of the Pueblo people against the Spanish colonizers in the province of Santa Fe de Nuevo México, part of which is present-day New Mexico. The Pueblo Revolt killed 400 Spaniards and drove the remaining 2,000 settlers out of the province.

Dallas Goldtooth Instagram - 39 years ago today, the Philadelphia police department dropped a C-4 bomb (from a helicopter) on a residential home of the MOVE organization- Black families & community organizers - killing 11 people (including 5 children) and destroying over 60 homes in the neighborhood. The city didn’t apologize until 2020 - and even then the UPenn Museum still had the remains of two children in their possession w/o the family’s knowledge. They were keeping them in a shoebox.

Again…Police dropped A BOMB from a helicopter on a residential home in Philly as a part of an eviction order.

Dallas Goldtooth Instagram - Amazing action to see. @jvpbayarea, @ifnotnowbayarea and over 1000 Jewish people & allies took over the Oakland Federal Building, praying, singing, and chanting in peaceful civil disobedience to demand #CeacefireNow #NeverAgainForAnyone #NotInOurName. It was one of the largest mass arrests in Oakland history I hear.

(i wasnt there but stand in solidarity)

Who is really behind the attack on the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and how will this assault impact the rights of Native Nations?

The Indian Child Welfare Act is the “gold standard” of child welfare policy. Gibson Dunn’s motives to support the plaintiffs in Brackeen v Haaland PRO BONO is another strategic campaign to chip away at Tribal sovereignty - our inherent right as Native Nations to self-govern.

If ICWA is overturned, the health and well-being of Native communities, lands and resources will be at risk. The U.S. has a long history of policies that attempt to weaken cultural and family connections within Native communities. We must not let any forces tear our peoples apart. Together, we can fight to #ProtectICWA.

What YOU can do to help:

My love and heart goes out to the family and relatives of Nex. Its disgusting that the family wasnt notified by the school. Its disgusting that oklahoma officials fueled anti-LGBTIQ sentiments leading up to this. Beyond the youth who committed the attack — the adults who foster anti-queer, anti-two spirit hate must be held accountable as well. #nexbenedict

Caption : Amazing action to see.
