Erlend Øye Instagram - In January i was in Mexico City without a particular professional reason. i went to visit some music studios, and one of them was psicopsia studios in las lomas. It is managed by Fernando Ramirez, who also is stage manager whenever i play in Mexico with KoC, Wba or by myself. His house used be owned by a Colonel, and he had made a squash court in there, to keep himself in shape. That is now the recording room. It has a distinct reverb, and that makes is fun to sit and play and sing in. So then i started going there, recording what came to my mind. SPIDER was written just a few weeks before, when i stayed with the guys of WBA in a house by the beach in acapulco. I played it for the first time at my christmas show at Supremo, CDMX December 22nd last year. SHADOW IN THE WATER in turn was written a few days after that, while staying in Cabo Pulmo, Baja California. Its been a dream for me to release songs that i have written while they are still fresh out of the oven. With these two that dream is coming true. Not all the material are new songs though. BE THE ONE came about in 2018 when i was in Chile and had just discovered the instrument Quatro Venezuelano. Javier Bobbert from La Matiné Uva Robot showed me the 4 essential chords for this instrument and with those this little song came to life. The Mexican musician Davide Alguilar joined me in the studio one day, and he brought a Quatro with him and we ended up recording that song with him playing a cool guitar rhythm on it. On SPIDER he also there, as part of a choir with Alex Ferreira and Diego Lorenzini. Clara Cebrian also sings on the chorus of this song, AND has made the cover for the album. There are more songs and stories to tell, but they will have to wait till next week….Winter Companion comes out on 7th April digitally through Bubbles, and the vinyl will be ready for the German Tour with La Comitiva in Germany through Say-Yes/Bubbles @bubbles @eldavidaguilar @alex_ferreira @undiegolorenzini @say_yes.eu @javierbobbert @rosarioalfonsocanta @psicopsia @clara.cebrian

Erlend Øye Instagram - Loving my time in Mexico with @loswhitest . Currently working in the studio at El Ganzo with both new and old ideas for possible new releases. Next stop: @coronacapital festival in Mexico City on Sunday, and in 10 days we will be back here in San Jose del Cabo, for a full-length show at the amazing outdoor club/venue called Crania. @craniareclaim link to tickets in bio. I would particularly forward this invitation to our US fans that live in states like Texas and California. There are direct flights to SJD from many airports there. I dont have a video of it but Alex played us his version of David Byrnes song Everyones In Love With You, a song i had never heard, but we all loved it instantly! Alex in turn liked my version of Alma Mia and invited me over to record it a few days later, but i wasnt able to make it groove like it did on the party. Fast forward 1 month and Alex, David, Clara and @undiegolorenzini are going to @psicopsia studios to record extra vocals for Spider from Winter Companion. David has to leave early, and so i ask Alex: «Why dont you try to record the david byrne song?» And he just sits down and nails it in half an hour. Then i overdub my vocal part and the guitar solo, and it was done! (sadly no videos of this either) while all this went on Diego Lorenzini was sitting and drawing the situation. Erlend Øye Instagram - The day before the German Tour started i could feel my voice sounding funny. An august of much travel and warm/cold/dry/humid is probably the culprit. So this whole tour i was doing all i could not to have to cancel any show. And we didnt! But i was ill through out the whole tour, and the days were just about saving up energy for the show in the evening. Now i am back home in Siracusa, and i am still not 100%, so what better to do to make a photo dump about the last 10 days. Next week we will be recording for the La Comitiva full length. What should the album be called?

In love with Europe and all of its urban and human variety. What a treat to see it all in such a short period of time. How things change from place to place. We develop a lot how we play together, both within La Comitiva core members, and with Romain, Maaike and Kobi, the Win Winds. Erlend Øye Instagram - Matrimonio Di Ruggiero came out last week. Finally! It has been cooking for a while this song. It’s pretty much a cousin of La Prima Estate. The kind of song-writing that came with me moving to Siracusa and learning italian little by little. I was invited to a wedding in a small island in Sicily, but i had to got there without a date. Which was a shame as i knew it was going to be quite a magic weekend. So on the way there I am daydreaming…. I cant remember who helped me with the lyrics. Possibly Gigi Scialdone. (Comment if you are a forgotten helper! ) The artwork is by Roberto Longo aka @roberto_di_alicudi He has done such an incredible job. Painting on glass. It is managed by Fernando Ramirez, who also is stage manager whenever i play in Mexico with KoC, Wba or by myself. His house used be owned by a Colonel, and he had made a squash court in there, to keep himself in shape. That is now the recording room. It has a distinct reverb, and that makes is fun to sit and play and sing in. So then i started going there, recording what came to my mind. SPIDER was written just a few weeks before, when i stayed with the guys of WBA in a house by the beach in acapulco. I played it for the first time at my christmas show at Supremo, CDMX December 22nd last year. SHADOW IN THE WATER in turn was written a few days after that, while staying in Cabo Pulmo, Baja California. Its been a dream for me to release songs that i have written while they are still fresh out of the oven. With these two that dream is coming true. Not all the material are new songs though. BE THE ONE came about in 2018 when i was in Chile and had just discovered the instrument Quatro Venezuelano. Javier Bobbert from La Matiné Uva Robot showed me the 4 essential chords for this instrument and with those this little song came to life. The Mexican musician Davide Alguilar joined me in the studio one day, and he brought a Quatro with him and we ended up recording that song with him playing a cool guitar rhythm on it. On SPIDER he also there, as part of a choir with Alex Ferreira and Diego Lorenzini. Clara Cebrian also sings on the chorus of this song, AND has made the cover for the album. And it was the mix of the beauty of the historical center, with the wild and free seaside area of Pillirina so near, that attracted me to Siracusa and that made me buy a house here and move here in 2012. From what I understand; a noble person, Marquis De Gresy, @manu_di_gresy is behind the investment company Elemata that now will make this area private and construct houses here where there now are ruins. What is his motivation to do this? Does he think he is doing a favour to Siracusa? Pillirina does not need any “requalification”. Its perfect as it is. Cliffs that year by year erodes into the sea. Houses that offer an idea of past settlements, and relics from the 2nd world war, that tells history in its subtle way. In the windy spring months, here we can find a windshaded beach and pretend its already summer. Mr Gresy, if you read this, please change your mind. I can sell my house in Bergen and maybe i can manage to pay for the costs you have had in all this time trying to procure the permits you needed. Will 1 million euro be enough? The kind of song-writing that came with me moving to Siracusa and learning italian little by little. I was invited to a wedding in a small island in Sicily, but i had to got there without a date. Which was a shame as i knew it was going to be quite a magic weekend. So on the way there I am daydreaming…. I cant remember who helped me with the lyrics. Possibly Gigi Scialdone. (Comment if you are a forgotten helper! ) The artwork is by Roberto Longo aka @roberto_di_alicudi He has done such an incredible job. Painting on glass.
