Caption : Our dearest father Tony Clabby has passed away on this fine day, the 12th day of Christmas, Nollaig na mBán, Little Christmas, the Epihany, and the day of the Kings, after three sacred days of gathering, holding, laughing, accepting, harmonising and loving he passed gently. We are heartbroken but truly grateful. More than anyone I’ve ever met, Dad was pure LOVE. As he said himself only hours ago, he’s had a great time, it’s time to go easy, it’s time to go to Madge. And true love lives forever. ❤️ Thanks to all the amazing absolute angels in #stjameshospitaldublinLikes : 25246

Caption : Thank you Shane. 💚 Thank you for opening your heart and sharing with us your glorious talents. We’ll never see the likes of again. Your genius songwriting and poetry weaved of words and wisdom that made mortals feel seen, heard and moved from stoney stoicism to quiet tears. In a world of perfection bullshit you were always real. You always lived your truth. Your defiance, passion, energy, self awareness, honesty, daring, anger, love was always inspiring. Your divilment infectious. That look in your eye right before you’d say something and then the laugh that set it up and us all off. You loved your tribe and we love you. You led us to hear our old songs with a fresh and proud heart. You gave us the strength of pride we needed both at home but especially to all Irish away from home and living with the emotional and cultural complexities of that. As I told you only last week your magnetism and immense spirit attracted us all like moths to the brightest, hottest flame. Your huge talents cracked wide open our often jaded hearts. More than anything though I loved the romance and realism in your every word. You spoke of truest love with all its ups and downs. Love that hits home when everyday unimportance is stripped away. Your belief in life and love was truthful, imperfect and so incredibly beautiful. Your muse, protector and angel Victoria always by your side until the very end. Your connection a beacon in the dark. Born on the birthday of Jesus and passing same date as Oscar Wilde and Patrick Kavanagh seems perfect. Somehow it feels you’re free of the shackles of the physical world now and you’ll fly to the divine as a child runs to home. May the road rise to meet you… Thank you Shane. Love always to our darling Victoria and all your family, friends and band family. Caption : @shanemacgowanofficial celebration of life!!! We gathered, cried, laughed, reminisced, gave thanks, held each other and danced. It’s so hard to lose a giant amongst us who has influenced and changed the world. So hard and soon after Jeff, Christy, Sinead. All icons. It’s a universal and personal mourning… and rightly so. Shanes funeral was filled with love as he was. The friendships are real, the support is solid. His brilliance attracted incredible people on his journey from nurses, to cab drivers to artists. He was an irresistible magnet to us all. @glenhansard did an incredible job herding us and pulling together something fittingly extraordinary for Shane. For which I was humbled to sing with @declanorourke When @thepoguesofficial @spiderstacy1 @glenhansard @thegingerman222 and @lisaoneillmusic and #johnsheehan @sharonshannonmusic @croninmusic @mundy_music played Fairytale of New York I remembered how every time I sang that song with Shane he’d get divilment in his eye and spin me round and around until we nearly fell over and so I just couldn’t stop myself from leaping out of my seat and grabbing @camilleosullivanpics @liamomaonlai, Shanes talented sister @siobhan.macgowan.1 and fabulous wife @victoriamaryclarke (who jumped leather booted over the pews) to dance and spin around our king as he was in the midst of us for the last time. It was a glorious ‘fuck it!’ moment for and with our Irish punk, romantic realist, genius, innovator, one of a kind @shanemacgowanofficial I’m honoured to have known him, I’m grateful to be a part of a great many people who will remain constantly amazed by him. The measure of our dreams… Thank you to @victoriamaryclarke for being so extraordinary and inspiring. Photo by @dragana23Likes : 11121

Caption : I’m SO thrilled to finally announce the most recent documentary I’ve been working on “Lily and Lolly: The Forgotten Yeats Sisters” which will premiere on International Women’s Day, Friday March 8 on Sky Arts and Now If you love literature and crafts, savvy business minded, strong spirited but unassuming and dedicated women… You are going to love this!!! In 2017 I read about Susan and Elizabeth Yeats often known as Lily and Lolly. Because they were the sisters of our literary genius William Butler Yeats world renowned painter, Jack Butler Yeats and daughters of celebrated artist John Butler Yeats, if known at all, they were most often only referred to as ‘the sisters of…’even though they were hugely talented people in their own right. How had I not heard of them before?!?! Their artistic contribution to Irish culture through exceptional textile craftwork, to literature by starting up Cuala Press one of the first printing and publishing companies in Ireland and also through business by running two successful companies, whilst employing an all female workforce (Illegal to do so within the printing industry, almost unheard of in early 1900s) I was delighted when my friend and wonderful producer Maggie Breathnach @redshoe_tv (we worked together on our award winning documentary ‘Voices Of Ireland’) agreed we should collaborate and make a documentary about these two fantastic women. Maggie is the best woman I could imagine to go on this quest with. She found the most informed experts to tell us everything they could about our Yeats Sisters. We drove all over Ireland to find examples of their work with a mostly female crew. We were thrilled when @skytv, @skyireland and @tourismireland agreed to help us make this special piece of documented history for you. Thank you to all involved Including @mariadoylekennedy for your beautiful narration. We hope you love this documentary as much as we loved making it, as you get to discover the amazing sisters Susan and Elizabeth aka Lily and Lolly Yeats #lilyandlollyyeats #cualapress #williammorris #wbyeats #williambutleryeats #yeats #jackbutleryeats #sligohistory #irishhistory #greatirishwomenLikes : 4471

Continuing this year with ’Imelda May … Mother of all the liberties… With accompanying ‘Liberties Belle’ Blue Plaque. * Mother of all the Liberties – A nod to the hierarchy & history of the women of the Liberties, and to Imelda’s current role in MOATB. * Liberties Belle – Reflecting on both ‘The proudly born Liberties Imelda’ and to Imelda’s own wonderful piece ‘Liberty Belle’. On seeing Imelda’s reposting of Celia’s ‘Highly Commended’ in the Arts & Entertainment category at the British Press Photographer of The Year Awards, and Imelda’s accompanying copy … ‘This photo of me from Cambridge Folk Festival last summer. Sinéad had just gone. I painted my top impulsively Put on my mother’s chain, my Jeff Beck pendant. Walked onstage with my band and sang with all my heart. Emotional night captured. Friendship forever’. I knew instantly this was the only image to use. I cannot emphasise the outpouring of Liberty love & fondness for both Imelda and her family that has not only been expressed to me but also in turn extended to me by association. I am really going to miss working on this much loved piece.” 📸 on Meath St also by @ailecphoto @dublincanvas #ImeldaMay #TheLiberties #TheLibertiesFestival #TheLibertiesDublin #DublinCanvas #DublinCanvasProject #DublinCityCouncil #ThisIsDublin #DublinEvents #Dublin8 #Dublin #IrelandLikes : 4242

She was such a remarkable singer, songwriter, performer and a highly intelligent, complex, clever, charismatic woman. She moved the heart of the listener. Her words full of truth, her melodies so sweet and her delivery delicate yet strong were only complemented by her presence and beauty. She was honest with her opinions and advice so her praise or critique was true and therefore valued. She was a part of my life story and for that I’m honoured. I wish her much love on her biggest journey to the stars. All my love to Thomas and Jacques. Lady Gregory was such an important figure in Ireland not least as a great poet and playwrite but also as an active researcher, collector. preserver and translator of our old and rich oral traditions which without her might well have been forever lost. She was one of the founder members of the Abbey Theatre itself and a leading figure in the Irish revivalist movement. I was delighted to meet with Lady Gregory’s family especially her great granddaughter Jane Murray-Brown Thank you to all the incredible team at The Abbey, my wonderful manager @meredithplant1 and of course my talented band @richardjcardwell on piano and @guitardarling on guitar who player such an important part of a very special evening. Caption : I was incredibly honoured to be invited to perform a show in celebration of the great Lady Augusta Gregory in the @abbeytheatredublin last night. Caption : Last night @theatremoat we celebrated with the full spirit of Brigid at ‘Nothing Compares’ Imbas was flowing strongly and so it was a special night. Ever supportive @hotpressmagazine invited us to @theatremoat and our hearts opened as @rachel_skinc @lemoncello___ @unahealy @mariadoylekennedy artistry and pure talent blew us all away. Nothing prepared me for Ireland’s First Lady Sabrina Higgins rousing, truthful and heartfelt speech. My God she’s a special woman. @guitardarling accompanied me with flair and ease. The brilliantly slick @thewhitmore hosted with such warmth as always she inspired the audience to be just so open and giving. Friendship, love, strength, vulnerability, connection all made themselves heard. We closed the night with our sister @sineadoconnorofficial words in our hearts and on our tongues, Thanks to all including @kildarecountycouncil @jasondohertyphotography @abigailr_photos as I wore my Palestinian dress made by @tatreezsisters thinking of all those living in fear and devastation and praying hard for peace and hope.. Because of last night I was in a good place today to feel Brigids quiet power while simultaneously wearing three of my favourite scarves by @loubrennandesign @victoriamaryclarke @jenniferrothwelldesign as my Brat Bhride (Brigids Cloak) that I hung on a bushel last night to be blessed by the passing spirit of Brigid and wrap myself in all year when in need of healing. Imbolc a blessings upon us all as we spring towards new life, new beginnings, love, light and hope. Love Imelda xLikes : 2287

Caption : I wrote this poem after someone that was special to me once said “you’re my home” It burst my heart wide open and flooded my soul. Then it brought my mind to think of what Love is. What it really feels like and means. True, sacred, divine, precious, beautiful Love. Real, well used, tested and tried kind of Love. I thought of all versions of Love This is what I wrote… Btw Happy Valentines Day. A day, when stripped of all of life’s triviality, can be a day to feel the warmth of real Love in your heart. For whomever that was, is or might be. Hold it close. It’s all we have. Love is ALL. ❤️Likes : 2151

Caption : I’m still processing the loss of one of my all time hero’s Pat Ingoldsby. Anyone who knows me knows how much I talk about his words and his incredible mind. His writings inspire and astound me and will continue to have an impact on me for the rest of my life. My father and I had a mutual love of him and read his poems to each other and laughed and cried together as I now do with my daughter. I really believe he is one of the best literary genius’, poets, writers, minds to ever come out of Ireland. He had a remarkable truth in him and he was dedicated to that truth His refusal to live, act, think how we’re told we all should unnerved people. There was a childlike element to his artistic freedom and I do not mean childish, I mean brutally honest with a way of seeing the world with fresh and inquisitive eyes that few adults manage to hold onto. His attitude to daily seemingly mundane things is shown to us as magical, his dedication to love could shatter open the hardest of hearts, his no holds barred “stick it up you arse” totally punk swagger to establishments/governments/protocol/systems/consumerism etc.. that fail many is nothing short of heroic and his amusement for and in life itself can totally flip a persons way of seeing everything Pat had and will always have a power because of how he thought and in the way he wrote. I was so honoured to be asked to be a part of the documentary of his life at his request and flew to meet him. When I met Pat he told me he loved my writing.. honestly one of the best moments of my life. His was approval I could only hope for. I could tell you of his life, his well known refusal to sell books in shops and only in person in the street, his years long battles with mental and physical health, his love of women, cats, banter, sky, sea, etc… but you’ll way better discover him if you read his own words. Trust me, read his words and he’ll be your hero too. His funeral will be held tomorrow Thursday 6th in Mount Jerome Crematorium, Dublin at 2.30pm I can’t be there in person but I will be giving thanks for his life with all my heart. 🙏❤️ #rippatingoldsby #totallegend My condolences to his family and friendsLikes : 2048

Caption : Beannactaí na Bealtaine! Bealtaine Blessings! This is one of the most important times of our year and we’ve been celebrating this ancient Celtic pagan festival for thousands of years. It’s the end of winters challenges and darkness and a step into abundance, bounty and light. It marks the halfway point between Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice It’s a festival of life, growth, rebirth, of fertile land, warmth of the sun and is celebrated with a festival of Fire. Fires were and are lit and danced around at Uisneach the spiritual centre of Ireland, the birthplace of Goddess Erú who Ireland/Eire is named after. I wish you abundant blessings at this special time. Photo from @hill_of_uisneachLikes : 2032
