Kevin Cronin Instagram - Hi friends, in 1989 I met a twenty-seven year old Wisconsin girl named Lisa Wells, and we have been partners in everything ever since. I haven’t talked about this much, but Lisa was instrumental, both emotionally and professionally, in the amazing 1990s rebirth of REO Speedwagon, and she has been by my side as the band continues our thirty-five year “comeback”. Without Lisa, there is no telling where I, or this band might be, (more details to come in my book!).

Today marks our 32nd wedding anniversary. Our love for REO, its fans, and each other, grows deeper every moment. Lisa and I thank you for your continued support and for being a part of our incredible journey. … kc

Kevin Cronin Instagram - Dear Fans & Friends,

I felt compelled to post on the REO page for the first time, due to the AMAZING outpouring of anniversary wishes and comments that touched both Kevin and me SO VERY DEEPLY. It was the best anniversary gift you could have given us.

On a personal note, I want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU for supporting one of the hardest working bands in the history of rock and roll.
I know that my children and I are Kevin’s first love, but the love he has for his band, his crew, and his fans are a very close second! He works tirelessly at improving his musical craft to bring the best show he possibly can to you, not to mention the passion, competence and creativity he puts forth daily at keeping the Speedwagon rolling!

As Kevin and I soldier on, partners in everything, we will always be grateful to YOU for making REO’s music part of your life’s soundtrack. Keep on loving…..!

Lisa Wells-Cronin
Kevin Cronin Instagram - Today in 1978, the monumental album in REO history, You Can Tune A Piano, But You Can't Tuna Fish was released! This album was the first REO Speedwagon album to break the Top 40 on the Billboard 200 chart and is now certified 2x platinum. Tell us about your favorite song from it!
Kevin Cronin Instagram - Hi friends, so we were between show days, and chose to spend our day off in Memphis, Tennessee. The city is overflowing with music mojo, and I am always inspired when I find, “my feet ten feet off of Beale”. Beale Street in Memphis is home to several historic blues clubs, and my favorite Elvis statue, but on this day I met a young rapper in front of the hotel which is on the west end of Beale. I was on my way out for bus call, when this enormous dude, dressed to kill, a big ole smile on his face, and surrounded by his impressive posse approached me. It always feels good when a younger artist shares their stories of what my music meant to them. @yunggravy is young, and very tall, (he is reportedly the tallest rapper, ever!). So ask your kids about Yung Gravy, and share what you hear back here in the comments! I’m curious.
Okay, that’s all for now … onward and upward, kc

PS. That brace on my left hand was due to an over-zealous day of playing the guitar part for the new song that I wrote with my long-time friend, Richard Marx. I played it so much that I ended up with a touch of tendinitis. Richard and I have been buds since Richard’s first tour, when he was our special guest on the Life as we Know It tour, in 1987. We have done numerous charity concerts, Richard produced a song I performed for the movie “Sing”, but we had never written together … until now! We both agree that this song is up there with our best work. More on that to come …

Hi friends, I like to extend Holiday greetings on a neutral day. So, I hope that no matter what day or days you celebrate, we can all be thankful for our good fortune and abundance, and do what we can to bring joy to those we love and encounter along the way.
Speaking of which, on my way northwest between Thousand Oaks and Santa Barbara this afternoon, I was startled by the sound of crunching metal. Traffic had backed up on the 101 northbound just southeast of Oxnard, and the driver behind me had dropped his cell-phone. As he bent over to pick up his iPhone from the passenger seat floor, he lost sight of the SUV directly ahead in his lane. That would be Me!
I collected myself, swung open my driver’s door, and headed back to confront this bone-head. He was around my age, healthy looking, totally apologetic and cooperative. It was apparent that he felt really bad, but he maintained his sense of humor as he offered his insurance info and said … “So sorry man, you hurt? I’m a chiropractor, and I’ll adjust you right here.” Luckily I am okay, just minor damage to the back of my car.
So yeah, I got rear-ended by a chiropractor. Only in Southern California!
And so we bid a fond farewell to 2023, and look forward to the endless possibilities of ‘24. Let’s all get the new year off to a positive and loving start. I hope to see you all soon. … much love, kc

Kevin Cronin Instagram - Hi friends, so we bid a temporary fond farewell to our buddy @RickSpringfield and his cool band and crew. The partnership between Rick and REO yielded five sold-out shows, and the camaraderie between the camps is stronger than ever. Now we look forward to being joined by our young friends, @levonthemusic, and our great old friends, @CheapTrick as we wind down this Spring tour…

Kevin Cronin Instagram - Hi friends, so you may have heard that Dave and I will be joining our summer-tour-mates, Train, for a special performance this Wednesday, January 31 on @JimmyKimmelLive. The following day we will share the tiny rectangular stage at @theWhiskeyAGoGo with @Train. If I’m not mistaken, the last time REO played the Whiskey was in 1973! So this will be a blast!

Meanwhile, this past weekend was an acoustic performance in Solano Beach, CA, to benefit the @CharleyHoffman Foundation. Charley is one of the more colorful of the top golf pros on the PGA Tour, and his foundation’s mission statement is: Supporting Children’s Charities in San Diego, and Beyond. Lisa’s and my old friend, Judge Dan Albregts is on the board of directors, and he connected us with Charley’s event. We would like to thank again the two amazing REO Speedwagon fans, whose combined generosity of $23,500.00 won them each an autographed acoustic guitar.

The following day, my golf group included Judge Dan and Nick Allen, the young shortstop for the Oakland As. I was the designated putter, and my teammates were generous of spirit, as my lack of precision on the greens may or may not have cost them the tournament prize. But we had a lot of laughs and raised a ton of money to help underprivileged children.

Kevin Cronin Instagram - Hi friends, I am very fortunate that my years with REO Speedwagon have allowed me to be a guest vocalist w/ some amazing “house bands” at various charity events during REO down time. Most recently I joined my friends in the @thejimirsaycollection for another night of good fun & great music at the Shrine Auditorium in LA.

The mood was a combination of somber & joyful. Somber due to the illness of our leader & benefactor, a man as generous of spirit as with his riches, humble, respectful, and loyal, and a lover of music and everyone involved in creating it, a man I am proud to call a friend, the inimitable Jim Irsay. I wish Jimmy the best as he faces this terribly tough challenge, and I have faith that he will come through it stronger than ever.

Jim wanted the concert to go on, with or without him, and we all dedicated every note we played and sang to his recovery. I was honored to be among the guest singers that night, all giants in their own right: Ann Wilson of Heart, Peter Wolfe of the J. Geils Band, and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. I think you can feel my joy in these photos from my performance, as this amazing band lifted me up and put their masterful imprint on my songs.

As I write this, the REO boys & I are on a flight from LA to Orlando, for a co-headline show with @styxtheband on Thurs. night. It will be great to see Tommy, JY & the boys, and the great audience our bands attract when we join forces. We will be playing a new & exciting setlist this year, & the band is raring to go.

The 2024 tour begins on 3/20 in Reading, PA w/ @rickspringfield & lands in Estero, FL w/ @cheaptrick on 4/6. I will be writing about our adventures as our tour winds its way through Charleston, Knoxville, Columbia, Montgomery, St Augustine, & many points in between. You can check reospeedwagon.com for a list of tour dates. We will be announcing a very special summer tour later this month, & are stoked to be sharing the stage w/ an awesome band w/ an amazing lead singer that we have never played with before. So stay tuned! … kc

Kevin Cronin Instagram - Hi friends,
So, everywhere I look these days I see trains … freight trains, passenger trains, and starting the week of July 8, my new favorite band @Train in Somerset, WI on 7-8, Indianapolis on 7-10, Cincinnati on 7-12, and on 7-13, my sweet hometown Chicago, just a few miles from where I grew up, down the road from Oak Lawn, in Tinley Park!

Our Summer Road Trip tour is getting off to a roaring start, in the heart of REO Country. I feel so strongly that fans of Train will dig the REO setlist, and same for the REO fans being wowed by great playing by the Train band and the amazing voice of my buddy Patrick Monahan.

REO is currently spending the month of June with our old friends, special guests @NightRanger and @levonthemusic. I am grateful to be sharing the stage with bands whose music we love, and who we love personally. At this point in my life, I want to surround myself with nice solid people, no tour drama, and good fun … that is how we roll. We have a night off in St Louis, and tour manager Ken Denson has planned a full-band outing to see the Cardinals play a home game at beautiful Busch Stadium. All six of us will be indulging in plenty of peanuts and Crackers Jacks tomorrow night!

Some of you may remember the awesome multi-band shows that REO headlined at Busch Stadium in 1978 and ‘82. I would love to hear your memories of those shows in the comments section here, as my memories of those concerts almost seem surreal! I need you to remind me that it all actually happened!

I look forward to seeing you at one of the final three June shows, in Evansville, Indiana and Decatur, Illinois on Tuesday and Wednesday … and next Friday on the BMO Stage at Summerfest in the great city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Rock on, and look out for oncoming Trains! … kc

PS. My feet will undoubtedly take me on my usual hike to the St Louis Arch this afternoon. It is a beautiful Midwest day here … actually I am gonna head out as soon as I press send!

PPPS. The city of St Louis, its people, and KSHE radio, have meant so much to me and my music. I love it here, and can’t wait for the Summer Road Tour to roll into the Riverport Amphitheater on July 16!

See you guys there! kc

See you guys there! kc

Kevin Cronin Instagram - hi friends, okay, our June tour was a stone blast! We hit a bunch of our fav towns with 2 of our fav bands, and ended up with a record breaking crowd at Summerfest in Milwaukee. The energy of that Wisconsin audience, combined with perhaps our strongest performance of the year, all built up as the set continued and crescendoed with an explosion of Midwest, REO style rock and roll. The people of Wisconsin have supported REO since our bar band days. Summerfest has become our home away from home, (this was our 14th time playing the festival!). So thank you to all the Wisconsinites/Cheeseheads who have been there for us through the years. And in particular one very special lady from Racine, the former Lisa Wells, now Lisa Wells-Cronin. As I said from the stage: I am a Cheesehead by marriage! I could not love my Wisconsin wife more.

So June began with a run of dates with @NightRanger. Those guys have kept the bar high, and keep get better every time we tour together. I love when our special guests are pros, who have been around forever, and are still pushing themselves to new heights. At this point in our careers there are those who choose to become complacent and rest on their past achievements. That attitude does not work for me. Our audiences shell out their hard-earned money for concert tickets, and we owe them our complete and total effort every night. Anything less than our best is simply unacceptable.

Then we were reunited with our young, awesome, hard-working friends, @Levonthemusic. If you have not seen them yet, (they have opened some fifty shows for REO over the past six years), you need to check out their music. Their vocal blend is literally CSN level, their songwriting is top-notch, and they are solid dudes through and through. It is just a matter of time until they break through big-time.

So now a well-earned week off at home, then we head out with @Train for the Summer Road Trip Tour. Check the schedule for a tour stop near you. Train is not to be missed. Great songs, great playing, and Patrick Monahan is one of the greatest rock singers ever. I can’t wait to share the stage with him.

Okay, that’s all for now … onward and upward, kc

Kevin Cronin Instagram - Hi friends,
So our four-month “break” was actually action-packed! From @jimmykimmellive and a gig at the legendary @thewhiskyagogo with our Summer Road Trip tour mates, @Train, to joining kellyripa in Las Vegas for @livekellyandmark, this has been a very busy break. There were the @charleyhoffmanfoundation and Warburton @StJude benefit shows, free shows with @thejimirsaycollection, (thoughts and prayers to Jim on his continuing recovery), a performance for SiriusXM rock-genius @eddietrunk’s 40th anniversary, and an acoustic show with my buddy and seven-time major ATP champion @matswilanderofficial at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, CA. … just to mention a few of the fun and rewarding experiences I enjoyed due to the support you, the fans have shown REO Speedwagon through the years. You all have put me in a position of being able to give back; it feels great and you are part of it.

Now the break is over, rehearsals are behind us, and our friend @rickspringfield will be joining us in Reading, PA, as we begin our Spring 2024 tour. Our old tour buddies @CheapTrick and @LevonTheMusic will be joining us for shows later in April.

So come on out and join the fun. We miss you all! … kc

Kevin Cronin Instagram - Hi friends, so normally when the word “weed” appears in a social media post from a rock band, it means someone got busted going into Canada with gummies in their carry-on luggage. But it is 2024, and even though rock and roll will keep us young forever, the times they are a-changin’. The other day, while sweeping sand and generally cleaning up our driveway, and remembering my father’s advice to “always pull out the entire root, or it will grow right back”, I came across the most stubborn weed of my gardening career. I had to pull hard enough to get it out, but not so hard as to tear the top of said weed from its root system. I needed someone with the perfect combination of extra muscle and finesse. Fortunately, my neighbor Patrick @paddywarbucks Warburton stopped by.
You all know Patrick from his “Puddy” character on Seinfeld, his ubiquitous National Car Rental spots, and his voice-over work on Family Guy. I know Patrick as the lovable gentle giant, generous founder of the annual Warburton St Jude event in Palm Desert, all-around good dude, and, come to find out, master weeder!

Try as I might, and having cleared my entire driveway of any unwanted plant life, this weed had me stumped. Warbs got right down to business, and after a brief wrestling match, gave a mighty tug, and out it came … roots and all! One of the finest exhibitions of weed extraction I have ever witnessed. Patrick, Lisa, our mutual friend John “Wolky” Wolk and I then retreated to our local dive, er fine dining spot, for a celebratory dinner, and rewarded ourselves for a job well done. Teamwork at its best.

I left for the road the following morning, and have enjoyed sold-out shows in Brandon/ Jackson, Mississippi and last night in Forrest City, Arkansas. The weather in Oklahoma City is threatening to make things messy for tonight’s sold-out outdoor show. But production manager Michael Richter and the amazing REO road crew are making it happen under tough conditions, as always. And as Matt Bissonette said earlier this afternoon, “Tonight there is a 100% chance of ROCK!” … kc
Kevin Cronin Instagram - Hi Friends, I just learned the sad news about the passing of legendary free-form DJ and old friend, Jim Ladd. Richrath and I talked with Jim up at his Laurel Canyon pad for his InnerView program several times over the years, and I looked forward to each session. He was one of the last of his kind; a true broadcast artist who played the music he loved by the bands he loved, and we all loved him. I was talking about how it had been too long since I had seen or spoken to Jim, just the other day. I wish I would have called him right then. Rest in peace amigo. … kc

Kevin Cronin - 11.3K Likes - Hi friends, in 1989 I met a twenty-seven year old Wisconsin girl named Lisa Wells, and we have been partners in everything ever since.

… kc

Kevin Cronin - 2.2K Likes - Hi friends, so we were between show days, and chose to spend our day off in Memphis, Tennessee.

Kevin Cronin - 1.6K Likes - Hi friends, so you may have heard that Dave and I will be joining our summer-tour-mates, Train, for a special performance this Wednesday, January 31 on @JimmyKimmelLive.

Pictured: 1. Nick Allen and kc 2. Kevin Cronin - 1.5K Likes - Hi friends, I am very fortunate that my years with REO Speedwagon have allowed me to be a guest vocalist w/ some amazing “house bands” at various charity events during REO down time.

… kc

Kevin Cronin - 1.4K Likes - Hi friends,
So, everywhere I look these days I see trains … freight trains, passenger trains, and starting the week of July 8, my new favorite band @Train in Somerset, WI on 7-8, Indianapolis on 7-10, Cincinnati on 7-12, and on 7-13, my sweet hometown Chicago, just a few miles from where I grew up, down the road from Oak Lawn, in Tinley Park!

See you guys there! kc

See you guys there! kc

Caption : Hi friends, So, everywhere I look these days I see trains … freight trains, passenger trains, and starting the week of July 8, my new favorite band @Train in Somerset, WI on 7-8, Indianapolis on 7-10, Cincinnati on 7-12, and on 7-13, my sweet hometown Chicago, just a few miles from where I grew up, down the road from Oak Lawn, in Tinley Park! Our Summer Road Trip tour is getting off to a roaring start, in the heart of REO Country. I feel so strongly that fans of Train will dig the REO setlist, and same for the REO fans being wowed by great playing by the Train band and the amazing voice of my buddy Patrick Monahan. Kevin Cronin - 1.4K Likes - hi friends, okay, our June tour was a stone blast!

Howie and @carrottoplive were both on top of their games, and we kinda nailed our mash-up of “Keep on Loving You” and “Roll with the Changes”. Carrot Top and I have been friends since Joe Elliott introduced us around ten years ago, and I got to know Howie even better today. I love both of these guys. Kevin Cronin - 1.2K Likes - Hi friends,
So our four-month “break” was actually action-packed!

… kc

Kevin Cronin - 1.1K Likes - Hi friends, so normally when the word “weed” appears in a social media post from a rock band, it means someone got busted going into Canada with gummies in their carry-on luggage.

Kevin Cronin - 1.1K Likes - Hi Friends, I just learned the sad news about the passing of legendary free-form DJ and old friend, Jim Ladd. … kc
