В МХТ им Чехова я провел счастливые и беззаботные 10 лет, работая помощником Табакова. Я должен был формировать труппу, придумывать интересные проекты и следить за творческим уровнем. А также ставить спектакли и "искать" других режиссеров, чтобы привести их под ясны очи Олега Павловича. Особенно горжусь придуманным и организованным мною проектом "Впервые на русском" (французская версия), который открыл московской публике мир современного французского театра. Этот проект должен был быть мостом, соединяющий МХТ и весь мировой театр, мол, не только Чеховым едины...Что ещё из важного? Юбилей и Форум Станиславского, спектакль "ВНЕ Системы" - последняя работа в МХТ. "Терроризм" - первая. Новейшая и радикальная современная драматургия на сцене главного театра страны. Первое исполнение "Гамлет-машины" на этой сцене (привет Рейнхгарду и его DT, на сцене которого потом мы сыграем "Машину Мюллер") и первый концерт современной музыки с участим лучших российских композиторов. Первый "промышленный" юбилей Табакова, который в дальнейшие годы уже делался другими режиссерами и стал визитной карточкой театра на телевидении. Поколение артистов, с которыми мы развивались вместе - от спектакля к спектаклю, от проекта к проекту. Школа-студия МХТ и мой экспериментальный курс, из которого вышла 7 студия ( их до нас в МХТ было шесть). Незабываемые разговоры и споры с Табаковым и Смелянским про будущее Театра. И многое другое, пооучившееся и не получившееся... В какой-то момент я понял, что не стоит окончательно становиться "мхатчиком", и наши пути с театром разошлись. Но эти 10 лет в МХТ с Табаковым - важнейшие и "смыслообразующие" годы моей жизни.

At first, he had a glass of wine in the smoking room, and after the performance, he came backstage and expressed his admiration to the actors. I wrote this short text in my Telegram channel, KIRILL AND HIS FRIENDS. All the news portals in Russia rewrote this news, which is strange! And then people started congratulating me. I have never been congratulated like this before, not for birthdays, not for film awards, not for premieres in opera houses, nothing!

Well, luckily, the Chancellor's visit doesn't mean much here, in Germany, it can't change anything in anybody"s life; he's just another audience member, albeit a famous and important one. I am thrilled that the Chancellor enjoyed our "Barocco," but what's even more important is the long standing ovation from the audience and the fact that we have three sold-out shows, and we even wanted to add a fourth performance...

And next day - a productive meeting with amazing Olivier Guez. My film is based on his famous novel "The Disappearance od doctor Mengele"

No matter how far you are, you cannot help but read about what is happening in the country that you consider your homeland, and to which you cannot return - staged repression, monstrous prison sentences for political opponents of the regime, war against neighboring countries, war of all against all within, deaths, depression, despair, apathy, lies, lies, lies. At the same time, there is a fake joy, demonstrative carelessness, and further normalization of everything that you consider abnormal, unjust, vile, and horrible. You can not help but be horrified by the new war that has engulfed the world, a war that was undoubtedly ignited by the country where you have lived most of your life. Your heart is torn apart by news of bloody terrorist attacks, endless slaughter, open hatred, and looming climate catastrophe. Meanwhile, life goes on, you start living in a new country, learning languages, discovering a lot of new, useful, and interesting things, and the world is illuminated with bright lights and launches festive fireworks into the sky. You have so much work, beloved work, as you have never had before, you communicate and work with the most beautiful and talented people in the world, you travel around the planet, you see so much beauty that you have never seen before. You have beloved friends, you have a beloved person, your father is still alive, even though you can not hug him personally... You smile less often and feel bitterness and worry more frequently. But you can not call yourself protected, self-confident, or calm. You can not call yourself settled in this life. You can not call yourself happy. Maybe just free, at least - free...

Kirill Serebrennikov Instagram - What should art be like during times of world wars? Should it be like: "When guns speak, music goes silent?" Or should it be an endless commemoration of the dead, like what the great Victor Melamed @oldoldanimal does, drawing portraits of killed Ukrainians and Israelis every day, so that everyone understands that behind the numbers of the dead are individual people with faces? How can one resist the lies of propaganda, the endless information fakes that are thrown out to further stoke the fires of hatred? What can art do to prevent people from becoming accustomed to war, to ensure that it doesn't become the norm of life?..This is what I think about all the time, and all the years of war in Ukraine and all the days of terrorist attacks in Israel - about the crisis of the idea of humanism. Or even about forgetting this idea. It seems simple - the entire world order should be built around the life, prosperity, and development of humanity. Any human being. Regardless of nationality or religion. Civilization is needed to provide education to those who lack it, food to those who have little, and housing to those whose homes have been destroyed by natural disasters. Civilization is needed to improve the life of EVERY human being. And not to turn it into hell. Civilization is needed to rectify its own failures and mistakes: to stop the catastrophic melting of ice, to increase the amount of drinking water where it has run out. It is needed to destroy an asteroid if it threatens Earth. Civilization is needed to help people who will soon face catastrophic changes in living conditions in climate change-affected areas, future climate refugees. Civilization is needed to combat diseases, viruses, and the consequences of industrial revolutions... And not for killing. That's it. There are no ideas or concepts for which one can kill another human being. None. We have forgotten about that again.

The magic of Valérie Dreville in the equally magical space of the Théâtre Buffes du Nord, created by Peter Brook as a preserved picturesque ruin. The text about the Father, which this actress pronounces, is full of poetry and severity, as is her laconic but lively and expressive presence on stage. In my past life, i saw her playing Heiner Müller’s Medea naked in Anvtoly Vasiliev’s play, demonstrating something that none of the Russian actresses could ever do. In acting and presence, of course) There is no less radicalism in this performance - if only in its rejection of the entire Theater and all of it tools. At the Odeon @theatreodeon , Krystian Lupa (theater Bela Tar) stages a performance consisting of silence and very beautiful film fragments. My admiration for the theater @theatreodeon that makes such art possible. And the Branly Museum has a good exhibition about ayahuasca. Those who haven’t tried it may understand something, but those who have tried it will compare. Everything was different for me. It’s interesting how this happened with Burroughs and Ginsberg in the 50s... Why ask - just read “The Naked Breakfast”. In any case, I can go to this museum endlessly with or without a reason.
