In Rome 🇮🇹We visited some old haunts and had pizza 🍕 at the first place we stopped way back when @darpoeta_trastevere We walked the streets til 3am which was exactly what we did when we arrived super jet-lagged back in the day, and had fun recreating some photos as well. Same scarf on my head (thanks Mom ❤️) and one of us has more hair, the other a bit less 🤔 Leaving here with a full belly, and a grateful heart to have made new friends, spent time with old friends and renewed vows with my Love @paddydemsey Til next time ✌🏾

Kristen Ariza Instagram - It’s not that I absolutely LOVE to run or even that I’m that good at it. I run because of how it makes me FEEL 🏃🏾‍♀️ ❤️ Five years ago I tore my labrum in my hip and that has made a lot of things, including running more challenging than I’d like it to be. My left leg is perpetually tight and if you look closely you can see how my stride is slightly shortened on the left. But running is one of few activities where I can zone out. Where I can listen to my breathing and feel my heart beat and pay attention to my body and despite being exhausted, still feel powerful and strong and ALIVE 🤸🏾‍♀️When my watch announced the close of mile 8 I was actually impressed that it seemed to have flown by but come mile 10 I was wishing my sis had a magic carpet we could ride! Around mile 11 my knees felt so stiff😩And by mile 12, my mind was playing tricks on me 🫠But knowing there was just one mile to go on this particular training run made the last mile almost fun. Running with my sister for the last 4 miles didn’t hurt either 😘 #familyfun So go get out there if you’re able and so inclined! Or if injury or health issues have you sidelined, go for a run in your mind. It’s allllllllll good.

Now, I can think of 10,000 better ways to celebrate a birthday, but I went right along with it anyways. I saw how much effort she put into preparing for it and was so happy for her when she crossed the finish line. I didn’t even remind her how horrible an idea it was when she was crippled in bed from dehydration after the race and needed the mobile IV peeps to come and fill her back up with liquid . •A film I shot during pandemic made its world premiere at the #TwinCityFilmfestival and I traveled near and far to visit family.

As we moved from the rehearsal hall to the main stage, I’ve kept a clear picture in my mind of the House, the Dome, of Mulberry Row. And as the curtain rises nightly on Sally & Tom, I of course think of Sally.

This righteous show, however, is not just about the relationship between Sally Hemings and Thomas Jefferson. It is a play about All Relationships. Choices. Sacrifices. The complexity of being human. It is powerful. It is funny. It is relatable.

Kristen Ariza - 332 Likes - Every Tuesday I am celebrating actors I love!

Today I am spotlighting Kristen Ariza, an actress I have been lucky enough to work with a couple of times (both in TV and theatre), and watched grow with every new experience. What I appreciate most about Kristen is that she is no-nonsense. She is always ready to dig in and get to work… whether on a tough audition side, an emotional scene on set, training for her latest marathon or finding ways to diversify her sources of income to navigate times or feast and famine. And when fear or doubt rears its ugly head, she knows that she is her own best advocate and pushes on.

I asked Kristen a few questions and here is what she had to say:

WHAT IS A MEMORABLE AUDITION STORY YOU HAVE?
Auditioning for CABARET on Broadway. I hadn’t played clarinet in many years but picked it back up when I lived in NY…even paid for a handful of lessons. When it was time to audition, I felt ready. I had a song prepared, I certainly looked the part in my black dress, fishnets and heels! When I walked in I quickly assessed that I was waaaaaayyyy out of my league. Everyone there had MULTIPLE instruments. For example, if their instrument was the trumpet, then they also played every other brass instrument in the band—and brought it with them! I desperately wanted to slink out the door but I convinced myself to stay. When my time came to go in, I nervously played my one song and sang. It wasn’t great. I said the requisite “Thank Yous” as did they and left the room as fast as I could! But I remember the subway ride home being incredibly funny to me. I was actually quite proud of myself for sticking it out and was audibly laughing in hindsight. Needless to say, I did not get the part, but the win I got for following through may have been even better than if I had. Oh and I still have my clarinet and do practice.
