Caption : 2011, I signed up for a @goruck Challenge in Las Vegas, Nevada (Pic 2). The GORUCK Challenge is a 12-hour, 15-20-mile team-building endurance event dreamed up by Green Beret and GORUCK founder @jasonjmccarthy to spotlight the quality of GORUCK Rucksacks to the world. This event introduced me to the best backpacks I have ever used and opened my eyes to what it really means to be a part of a team, imparting profound lessons that I incorporate into my daily life. From there, I went on to do the first ever GORUCK Ascent (Pic 3) in Colorado, and not only did I walk away from these events a more in-tune and better person, but I also developed a long-standing friendship with Jason, who continues to make me a better person, and even a surfer, haha (Pic 10). Since 2011, I have always Rucked, whether while walking the dogs (Pic 1), on a hike, or as part of a workout. At the start of the pandemic, my daughter @lucy_vallely and I took to Rucking as a form of exercise and a therapeutic answer to the mental toll of the lockdown. We covered much ground, up, down, and across Long Beach, California (Pics 4&5), and then we took to the road, hiking the Grand Canyon together (Pic 6); doing so is one of my fondest memories of that difficult time. In April of 2022, on behalf of GORUCK, I attended @sandlotjax, where I made my last ever public skating appearance (Pic 7), doing what I have always done: sharing and promoting the love and fun of Skateboarding. Shortly after, my company, @streetplant, and GORUCK collaborated on a Signature Skate Rucksack (Pic 8) and a Skateboard Deck with art by @rdsparks (Pic 9). The Skate Rucksacks sold out fast, but we plan to make more. The Board is still available from Street Plant. Today, I am honored to say that I am working with GORUCK to continue to bring awareness to Rucking as a meaningful form of exercise and to share the gear I use for travel.
