Only then did she realise that it was a date.
She had no idea that we would fall in love, she would save my life and we would have the most wonderful family together.

You’re a stone cold stunner honey, with a kind heart that’s a beacon seen from space.

Osher Günsberg Instagram - I've known @nahaste since 2000, and she's been like a sister to me. I'd known her dog Pippet for almost as long (she is pictured here when Mel opened my first photographic exhibit at her gallery back in 2010) .
The thing about humans is we choose companion animals that don't live as long as we do. Alas, Pippet has gone to chase squeaky balls in the sky. She was my first oodle, super good for cuddles when I stayed in the spare room and a loyal companion to my dearest Mel. I am sad for you my dear friend. My hope is that everyone throws a ball to their doggo today in honour of that lovely pup. In a world of good girls, she was the best.

Osher Günsberg - 9.7K Likes - 14 years and one day ago in NYC was the last night I ever had a drink.

I couldn't stop. Even though I'd tried many times. I didn't know how to not do it, but I knew that I had to stop or I was going to end up financially ruined, divorced and dead.

So I asked someone who had what I wanted how they did it, and then just did what they told me.

Like they say, it's a day at a time. Sometimes it's one hour, or five minutes at a time. But slowly, in the words of @matthewmitcham88 - you build up a life in sobriety that you're not willing to lose .

There's no way this happened because of self-will or willpower.
That was the problem.
This is the result of humility being thrust upon me and knowing that my way of handling things wasn't working, and that other people had better ideas that were healthier and less destructive.

Do I do it perfectly? No.
Am I still an untold punish to my wife?
More than I'd like to be (my account of this is probably different from hers - believe her version).

Even though sometimes it's hard - the life, the family, the career I have now would have been impossible were I still drinking. It's no exaggeration to say that if I was still drinking and using I'd be long gone.

So today I'm grateful for all the kind, smart and generous people who showed me how to do this, because you all gave me a life I could never have dreamed of. xx
