Todd Kerns Instagram - Let me tell you about my friend Frank Sidoris. When I met him he was 23 years old. He had the fortune or misfortune, depending on your perspective, of playing with guys 15-20 years older than him. He missed out on the wild times of partying and carousing with mates his own age instead dragged around by a coven of caffeine seeking, muso obsessive, sober grown ass men. Frank is now a grown ass man himself with a loving family, an irreplaceable wife, a business of his own and a future brighter than any of us. He is immensely talented at everything. He’s a world class skateboarder, photographer…I mean the cat can even juggle. That said no one has any idea how gifted of a musician he is. I mean you know but you don’t KNOW. In the future all of his skills will present themselves to you. I’m sure of it. Beyond all of that he is a good man. He is a thoughtful friend. I’m honored to share the stage with him every night. Now don’t tell him I said any of this. I like to keep him on his toes not knowing if I even like him. TONIGHT we are in TOKYO and we could NOT be more excited! Slash, Myles, Brent and I have been playing together for 14 years. Here’s one of the earliest rehearsals with the four us plus our pal Bobby Schneck on guitar. Within a week we would be playing on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show, Craig Ferguson’s Late Late Show, and a bunch more. Then a warm up show at @theroxy in Hollywood before a world tour. When you play THOSE songs with him they feel correct. They feel the way they should feel. He has a swing and a pocket that cannot be taught. It’s just in his DNA. He’s also an incredible human. Joy Division, New Order, The Smiths, Buzzcocks, Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Oasis and so many more. My favorite part of touring the UK is how much Rock And Roll history there is from one town to the next. Newcastle was incredible last night. This photo is from there. It’s been awesome having @wolfvanhalen and @mammothwvh out here absolutely crushing it night after night. Gotta thank them for loaning out their guitar player @franksidoris to us. We are halfway through the UK chapter now so I’m making the most of it. A successful shopping trip to @prettygreenltd and another dining dream @dishoom I love Indian food. Todd Kerns - 3.3K Likes - A couple of Kerns’, a couple of Fitzes and one of the most underrated guitar players on the planet, Mr. @mikemccreadypj We had an amazing time at the @pearljam show last night in Vegas. What a show. What a crowd. The band has one of the most loyal and passionate followings I’ve ever witnessed. Their crowd know the words to every single song of the set. Even the newest ones from Dark Matter the new album. I first saw PJ on the 1992 Lollapalooza tour. It was the second Lollapalooza tour and PJ were the gigantic new kids. Ten was such a massive game changer of an album. Of course I have been with @stonecarpentergossard and @jeffamentsarmy since Mother Love Bone. One of my all time fave bands. On that same Lolapalooza show was another breakout band called Soundgarden. Their drummer, @themattcameron is now in Pearl Jam and is one of the most understated and masterful players on the planet. As Mr Vedder said last night, “To call Matt Cameron the greatest drummer in the world he’d still be underrated”. Mike McCready tore the roof off the place last night and it made me wonder why I don’t hear more about what a monster player he is. Jeff Ament is one of my bass guitar heroes. The fretless, the 12 string, there’s little he can’t do. Of course, @eddievedder is one of the greatest frontmen of all time. He complained of a weak voice though I would never know. He was as powerful and as on pitch as ever. He’s one of those Bono level frontmen who has the crowd in the palm of his hand from song 1. I’m happy we got to share our anniversary with the great Pearl Jam. Plus we got to go with @chrissydfitz and @brentfitz for a fun evening out. Thank you for being amazing, Mike and the lads. Even the newest ones from Dark Matter the new album. I first saw PJ on the 1992 Lollapalooza tour. It was the second Lollapalooza tour and PJ were the gigantic new kids. Ten was such a massive game changer of an album. Of course I have been with @stonecarpentergossard and @jeffamentsarmy since Mother Love Bone. One of my all time fave bands. On that same Lolapalooza show was another breakout band called Soundgarden. Their drummer, @themattcameron is now in Pearl Jam and is one of the most understated and masterful players on the planet. As Mr Vedder said last night, “To call Matt Cameron the greatest drummer in the world he’d still be underrated”. Mike McCready tore the roof off the place last night and it made me wonder why I don’t hear more about what a monster player he is. Jeff Ament is one of my bass guitar heroes. The fretless, the 12 string, there’s little he can’t do. Of course, @eddievedder is one of the greatest frontmen of all time. He complained of a weak voice though I would never know. He was as powerful and as on pitch as ever. He’s one of those Bono level frontmen who has the crowd in the palm of his hand from song 1. I’m happy we got to share our anniversary with the great Pearl Jam. Plus we got to go with @chrissydfitz and @brentfitz for a fun evening out. Thank you for being amazing, Mike and the lads. Todd Kerns - 3.3K Likes - Homeways is rightways now! After a glorious run through Latin America/Australia/Asia and Europe it’s time to put the USS SMKC in dry dock until our next adventure. It has been one hell of a run. A rollercoaster ride to say the least. The gigs and crowds have been the best of our 14 years of existence together (12 w Frank). Thank you so much for having our backs. Let it be said that we didn’t get to Canada, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Spain and a whole lot more but we did our best to accommodate what we could. Now we all split off into our individual adventures. Slash has the blues, Myles is flying solo, Frank will be riding with Wolfie et al and Fitz and I will return to Canada this summer with @toquerocks but before that I’ll be in Vegas for my TK & friends show @vampdvegas May 17th. Come say HI! I’ll also be Raiding A Vault Of Rock while in Vegas @rock_vault Stay tuned for dates. And then in July I’ll be back in Italia with my @heroesandmonstersband homies! They are incredibly tight with A songs. From song one to the end they have the audience in the palm of their hands. Then we have to go on and try and win ‘em back to our side. I think it’s fair to say that at that point they are The Struts’ audience and we are simply asking them to share their time with us. Not only a great band but great people. I recommend them highly.
