The team at @ninth_planet_audio and @iheartpodcast got a really great billboard together for the people of my hometown, and unknowingly had it scheduled to be up through next week (including during the MNF @bengals game!!! And subsequent traffic!!!). The pressure is on for Boone County High School to do the right thing, look to the future, and get a new mascot. Listen to Rebel Spirit 🎙️ episode 4 drops Tuesday!! 🥰

🏫 🔔 Class is in session: REBEL SPIRIT episode 2 🎙️ HISTORY LESSONS is out now. In it, I’m told the generational lie by Boone County Schools that the mascot at BCHS, “Mr. Rebel” and the Rebels, was taken from the 1955 James Dean movie, “Rebel Without a Cause.” You can see above just how little our confederate general resembled the ai version of how a James Dean mascot would look. But just to be sure we spoke with an expert in classic Hollywood cinema. Beyond proving the school and district unmistakably wrong, we dive deep into the true history of the school and the area and basically the entire memory of the confederacy as being rebuilt as a hateful response to desegregation. We can’t move forward without telling the full story. Link to listen and subscribe is in bio. And please leave a review if you’re inclined! 🩵
