It means so much to see all of these indigenous people being celebrated and rightfully claiming this space that is so far beyond deserved. It’s only indicative of how much is to come for our people using our voices and telling our stories. We have a long way to go but it’s important also to remember to take the time to recognize the good.
So much praise and credit to @sydneyfreeland and everyone else in charge of this film who made this happen, who fought for every piece of authenticity that you see represented in this movie and at this event.
Wopila to @laurengoodday for making this incredible dress, inspired by old photos and designs of the women of fort peck. Wearing these designs, knowing where they came from meant more to me than I can tell you.
And wopila to @sotascowidesigns for all of this beautiful quill work!!! I felt the love in every stitch.
