My niece shared this photo from her engagement album. The people in the picture are Tomy Aliyan and Mini Chechi. Mini Chechi took care of me as a baby, and here’s me trying to play a shoe game with them (but I gave them flowers instead). It took me half an hour to teach her the game, and I was amazed by Tomy Aliyan’s patience with Mini Chechi’s cuteness. I adore them both—one is a solid rock and the other adds vibrant color to the rock. They’ve been through so much together, from fighting cancer to raising three wonderful kids. Now, with the nest empty, they’re ready to make new memories.

This bangle was a gift from my grandfather to my mom when she had @qvi_kaviashish, my elder brother. I have vivid memories of seeing it on her wrist as a kid. It felt like she was always carrying a piece of him with her. We lost my grandfather when I was in junior school—the only time I ever saw my mother cry like a child. I remember sitting beside her as she lay in bed, trying to comfort her. It took her a while to find her footing again. With my dad away on work trips, she wiped her tears and carried on, making sure we were cared for. I often wonder how she managed to be so strong through it all. Today, my mom gave me that same bangle. To me, it feels like Thor is handing over his strombreaker.
