My father… Man of the land… Where I learned my connection to the dirt, what grows, what gives , what don’t . A farm man, a ranch man . Only what’s needed. Honoring the balance A simple miner , for complicated gemstones Man of Morals From who I learned to not be impressed by a “thing”, instead by substance. True story here… I once got proposed by a Prince, a man of fortune beyond lands, a man, who if I accepted his proposal to marry, would’ve changed the status of my whole family for generations to come. Feeling the weight of not being a decision just for me, I sat down to talk to my dad, he quietly listened, and his first question was… Do you love him? I answered, “I am not sure, but I do like him a lot and I think the love could grow.” Feeling the weight on my voice he quickly asked, “Can you see yourself having a child with him?” I quickly said, “No.” “Then you have your answer,” he said. He then went on to quote once again something he had said to me earlier in my life that really shook me. “If you marry a man for only the material things he has then you are a high class prostitute to me.” I know it sounds harsh but I thought about it throughout my life when and where I met many man that had a lot of material wealth and access but lacked true soul and morals. When my dad the Farmer met Matthew, he had no idea who Matthew was. We have some funny stories, but Matthew is best to tell… 😂 My dad always reminds me and gives me the permission to: “Do what’s right for you…You now have your own family to build, do not carry any of the weight of your mother and I, our mistakes or accomplishments. You start fresh…Do not take the focus away from yours. “ Simple heart That’s where I get mine from Thank you dad ….. it was all the learnings that got me to Matthew the best father for our 3 kids honestly one of the best fathers I have ever meet! It is beautiful and a blessing to see! Beyond grateful 🙏🏽 Happy Father’s Day.

The Future it’s looking Bright! @jklivinfoundation What a JOY to watch the whole @texaslonghorns football game yesterday with some of the Teenagers from @jklivinfoundation you all are amazing, special and will do great things in life! Some of the teachers were there too but I managed to lose that photo 🤦🏽♀️ the program does not work without YOU all Teachers, THANK YOU for all that you do! And a reminder to all of us to not take it for granted that new experiences for young adults can open horizons, ideas, inspire and help shape the course… That’s just one facet of what the program does to learn all that we do with our after school programs go to @jklivinfoundation website or link in bio
