UNSOLD CARROTS LIKE THESE MAKE THEIR WAY TO HUNGRY ANIMAL SHELTERS. At a back alley of a trading post in La Trinidad, Benguet, sacks of carrots are piled on top of each other, similar to the sacks of pumpkins we saw at NVAT. These come from different farmers, but the same tiring problem persists. Umulan na’t umaraw, nandito pa rin, nakatambak. These are already mushed, rotten carrots. Hindi na rin pwedeng ipamigay.
We have been informed that another delivery of carrots is scheduled for this Tuesday. We shall hang a tarp above the bagsakan area to shelter the incoming carrots from the possible rain. We will gather them and have them transported to Manila to distribute to shelters.
Since our farmers have no way to find buyers for these carrots, we have decided to donate them to rescue shelters. Any amount helps both our farmers and shelters.
