Elif Şafak Instagram – Happy International Left Handers Day. As a left handed child at school in Turkey I was constantly scolded and punished by the teacher and forced to hold the pencil in my right hand. I struggled a lot and I was one of the last, if not the last student in the classroom to learn how to write. Even today, after so many years, I cannot connect with my handwriting. I cannot write longhand. I have finished all my books on typewriters and laptops. Only when they meet on the keyboard can my hands re-connect. Ben ilkokula başladığımda, solak olduğum için çok azar işittim öğretmenlerden ve sürekli sağ elimi kullanmak durumunda kalmak yazı yazmayı diğer öğrencilerden daha geç öğrenmeme sebep oldu. Solak çocukları zorla sağ elle kalem tutmaya mecbur bırakmak çok yanlış bir yaklaşımdı, umarım bu hata artık terk edilmiştir okullarda.
