Ingrid Michaelson Instagram – today is an odd day. our beautiful show @notebookmusical must close Dec 15. it is also the ten year anniversary of my mother’s passing. there are many avenues to take here. the easiest being sadness. the hardest being joy. im going to choose the joy. im going to choose to know that my mother made me to choose joy. im going to choose to cherish the years spent with some of the most incredible group of humans as some of the best years of my creative life. im going to choose to touch the photograph of my mother that i have taped to my headboard and say “hi mommy. I miss you. but im ok”. im going to choose to be excited about @notebookmusical touring in sept of next year and all the amazing cities (and eventual countries!) where the piece will be brought to life. my mother was an artist. a sculptor. she taught me to make art for the sake of making art. for the love of it. so thats also what i choose to do. make more. make another musical. maybe make 5 more. sadness and joy folks. sadness had me for a bit this morning. but now im reaching for joy. | Posted on 30/Aug/2024 21:16:46
