Jo Frost Instagram – We salute you Grandparents ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพย

Parents here are some pointers:

1. Boundaries are vital to stop a person feeling abused, so be clear together on days, hours and where the care is being held, yours, theirs, so safety is followed through on and respectful both parties feel good.

2. Discuss your family practices and how that may differ from theirs, generations do things differently.

3. Limitations on things like screen time, candy, ‘the Grandparent treats’ these are to be decided upon, leave room to discuss.

4. Make time for Grandparents to see children when not co- caring so they can be a grandparent without the responsibility.

5. Grandparents are exactly that, they raised their children already and are entitled to live their life as they chose,ย  as are you, show consideration for that. Be excited that they travel, be thrilled for their new chapter.

6. Gratitude goes a long way and has mileage don’t be stingy. A few bucks here and there, some flowers a voucher, whatever you can do, will always be appreciated.

7. Be mature enough to ask if there is anything they’d like to discuss because it leaves room to talk perhaps about a challenge or something they feel discomfort around.

At the end of the day Grandparentsย

Hold their own unique relationship with their grandchild and yes you may think wow ! it so wasn’t like that with us,well now you know it’s different when you’re the parent, the stress is different.

8. Last but not least make sure to see both sets if you can as Paternal Grandparents lose out on time compared to Maternal Grandparents and both are equally important to the child.

Note: To my Grandparents I love you and miss you everyday. Thank you for your special love โค๏ธ your memories, your faces, your energy live on within me. โœจ๏ธย
