Michelle Obama Instagram – As athletes around the world come together to compete in the Olympic games in Paris, I find myself inspired by their talent, endurance, and sportsmanship. Here at home, I’m encouraged by organizations like @GirlsintheGame who are working to harness that power to lift up our girls.
Girls in the Game helps adolescent girls get involved in sports programming to develop their health, leadership, and life skills. Girls gain exposure to multiple sports and activities—from basketball to yoga to soccer—while also taking part in workshops on teamwork, conflict resolution, and more.
With recent support from our @GirlsOpportunityAlliance, Girls in the Game has expanded their programming to three new schools on the South Side of Chicago. I’m inspired by the work they are doing, and I hope you’ll take the time to learn more about organizations like theirs that are helping girls thrive across Chicago.
