🖤 A young throwback to an incredible time at the @BasadiInMusic awards 2023 receiving my mentee, @noluthando.mbali and my award for Best Songwriter. Another highlight was @thesisza_ winning the best Jazz category. My favourite part of this evening, handsdown, was the opportunity to continue this beautiful story with @karllagerfeld ‘s timeless classic pieces as they so effortlessly interacted with key pieces depicting my Xhosa heritage. Shout out to the incredible visionary Mam’ @shelimasondo 🌹and amazing her team for expressing my vision so poetically. This is my favourite fashion story. @iamnomfundomoh asked me to go record a song with her last year. I hadn’t been doing studio for a while and I really felt tired, but I just couldn’t miss an opportunity to show her how special I think she is. I went there with full trust that whatever we were meant to hear and sing would be there waiting for us. The song came out in Easter and sounds like someone rocking a baby to sleep.
