I’m not sure how to find the words for this, but over the weekend, I lost a piece of my heart. My sweet Mickey has gone to heaven, and the emptiness he left behind is something I could never have prepared for. He wasn’t just a dog, he was my best friend, a source of pure love and joy that brightened every moment of my whole family’s life. For 13 years, he filled our lives with memories we’ll cherish forever, but no amount of time could have made saying goodbye any easier. The pain of losing him is overwhelming and deeper and more unbearable than I ever imagined. I’ll miss him every single day, but especially our mornings together. That was always my favorite part of the day. My heart aches in ways I can’t even describe, and life just doesn’t feel the same without his presence.
