More than a hundred of our readers at The Audacity accepted the challenge to write an essay inspired by Aimee Nezhukumatathil’s Bite by Bite, and I’m excited to announce that Taj Zaidi was our winner with the essay “Instant Pot Time Machine.” Taj’s essay will be published in The Audacity near the end of November. We had so much fun with this contest that we’re hosting another—this time, your best horror stories! For this contest, we’re looking for fiction only. All entries must be 3,500 words or less. The rest of the weekend will be filled with a bevy of established and up-and-coming authors, so please come and join us on the Friday night and stay for the rest of the panels, readings and events over the weekend! It’s going to be a literary extravaganza, and since it’s being organized by my lovely friend @jerzygrrl076 whose extremely enjoyable reels can be found at @westportlibrary, I promise you it’s not to be missed. (The last slide is of the cupcakes she made for me when I signed my contract with Grove, so you can see what an absolute gem of a person she is.) At some stage I’ll be sharing an essay on the series of events that led to me having ROXANE GAY BOOKS on the spine of my memoir, but if you want to come and hear the story from the horses mouth (pun intended) please come and join us (link in bio for tickets.)
