Kristoffer Polaha Instagram - Last week my family and I were invited to @hallmark headquarters in Kansas City to meet the employees of Hallmark Co. and their executive chairman Don Hall, Jr. I was overwhelmed by their generosity of spirit and the living out of the company’s mission statement that Don’s grandfather, J.C., established in 1910. Meaningful connections. Truth is, Hallmark Card Co. and the @hallmarkchannel are all about meaningful connections. Remembering high points in each others’ lives and celebrating those moments. And creating keepsakes that allow us to cherish those moments, as if bending time to revisit those events, year after year. Last week my family and I made meaningful connections with my fellow actors, with the folks at Hallmark who make it all happen, and the PR team at Crown Media. Thank you @anniehowellpr, @maureenbarretthm @shainaraejulian @megvantine @djhindustani and the entire public relations team, @mrsjp24 and #woynalucas for making it happen. Kristoffer Polaha Instagram - Death is such a complicated thing for all of us. What happens to us? Where do we go? What’s next? Or is it just the end? The acceptance of death is the beginning of wisdom and acknowledging our limited time in our meat suits makes us ask really good questions, questions like what is the meaning of life? I know what I think, but I’d love to hear your thoughts as we move into Good Friday. What is the meaning of your life? Jesus taught us something unique about life and death. Jesus died on the cross and then three days later he defeated death and came back to life. This is why we celebrate Easter. To that, my former pastor, Dr. Alan Meenan, had something he would say every Easter. This is his direct quote and he would say this to his congregation every Easter - “Easter morning, depicts the fact that long before dawn while we are still asleep, the Easter chorus, “He is Risen” is taken up by the islands of the Pacific and continues unabated across Australasia, Asia and India. Before the cry dissipates, the strain is heard throughout Africa and Europe until it is our turn as dawn breaks in the Americas and we, too take up the chorus: He is Risen!” This beautiful imagery illustrates for us the idea that on every corner of this beautiful earth, people, like the rising sun, will celebrate the glory of Christ and his victory over death. In short, we will be lifting up our hope, practicing our hope, and living in hope. Dr. Meenan would also end his service every Sunday with a benediction (a good word) and it went something like this “ “The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face to shine upon you. The Lord lift up HIs countenance upon you and give you peace… “ and then Meenan liked to add “on this day and throughout the coming days of your life until the sunburst of eternal glory when we shall be forever with the Lord.” Have an amazing weekend y’all. Kristoffer Polaha Instagram - Been a while, thought I’d say hi. Happy Labor Day, which has taken on a brand new meaning for me this year. I got my big break as an actor by staging the entire Eugene O’Neil cannon over the course of several years with @eugeneoneill1 (for free) and a lot of O’Neill’s early works revolved around people who wanted a fair shake at the American Dream and considered joining the radical IWW and or the more conservative AFL labor unions. Unions have a long history and the shop owners are often at odds with them, but being a union man AND a shop owner I find myself in unique moment in history. What we, as entertainers, provide is certainly not a “need.” We don’t provide grain or raw materials to push industry forward, but what me make - our stories- are a “want” which, when consumed, pushes our souls forward. You want them and you (we) will always want them. We want our stories so we can escape the hardness of life, if even for only two hours in a darkened theater filled with strangers, or over the course of a season on TV, or to disappear into a book for a few weeks. Story tellers aren’t going anywhere because people want to be told stories, to escape, to dream, to learn from each other and to root for each other, and to be inspired. How we get our stories doesn’t really matter, stories will find a way. I could drive a bus to your town, put on a play, earn my wages, and go on to the next, like the traveling minstrels did ages ago. But we have a beautiful system in place, we make a story and you can see it from anywhere in the world, a global market, and brought to you at a reasonable price! And for the first time in the history of this modern business of storytelling, our way of life is being disrupted in a way that is breaking the back of the business and the hearts of your story tellers; the men and women who make your shows and movies, thousands of skilled laborers who work hard for a decent living. Sure, times change, but we have always shared the take at the door. If you tell the story, you get paid for it. Simple as that. Syndication worked, fair wages for base pay works, the right to your image works, the right to own your voice works. @sagaftra

Now if God so clothes the flowers of the field, which are alive today and burnt in the stove tomorrow, is He not much more likely to clothe you?

The acceptance of death is the beginning of wisdom and acknowledging our limited time in our meat suits makes us ask really good questions, questions like what is the meaning of life? I know what I think, but I’d love to hear your thoughts as we move into Good Friday. What is the meaning of your life? Jesus taught us something unique about life and death. Jesus died on the cross and then three days later he defeated death and came back to life. This is why we celebrate Easter. To that, my former pastor, Dr. Alan Meenan, had something he would say every Easter. This is his direct quote and he would say this to his congregation every Easter - “Easter morning, depicts the fact that long before dawn while we are still asleep, the Easter chorus, “He is Risen” is taken up by the islands of the Pacific and continues unabated across Australasia, Asia and India. Before the cry dissipates, the strain is heard throughout Africa and Europe until it is our turn as dawn breaks in the Americas and we, too take up the chorus: He is Risen!” This beautiful imagery illustrates for us the idea that on every corner of this beautiful earth, people, like the rising sun, will celebrate the glory of Christ and his victory over death. In short, we will be lifting up our hope, practicing our hope, and living in hope. Dr. Meenan would also end his service every Sunday with a benediction (a good word) and it went something like this “ “The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face to shine upon you. I got my big break as an actor by staging the entire Eugene O’Neil cannon over the course of several years with @eugeneoneill1 (for free) and a lot of O’Neill’s early works revolved around people who wanted a fair shake at the American Dream and considered joining the radical IWW and or the more conservative AFL labor unions. Unions have a long history and the shop owners are often at odds with them, but being a union man AND a shop owner I find myself in unique moment in history. What we, as entertainers, provide is certainly not a “need.” We don’t provide grain or raw materials to push industry forward, but what me make - our stories- are a “want” which, when consumed, pushes our souls forward. You want them and you (we) will always want them. We want our stories so we can escape the hardness of life, if even for only two hours in a darkened theater filled with strangers, or over the course of a season on TV, or to disappear into a book for a few weeks. Story tellers aren’t going anywhere because people want to be told stories, to escape, to dream, to learn from each other and to root for each other, and to be inspired. How we get our stories doesn’t really matter, stories will find a way. I could drive a bus to your town, put on a play, earn my wages, and go on to the next, like the traveling minstrels did ages ago. But we have a beautiful system in place, we make a story and you can see it from anywhere in the world, a global market, and brought to you at a reasonable price! And for the first time in the history of this modern business of storytelling, our way of life is being disrupted in a way that is breaking the back of the business and the hearts of your story tellers; the men and women who make your shows and movies, thousands of skilled laborers who work hard for a decent living. Sure, times change, but we have always shared the take at the door. If you tell the story, you get paid for it. Simple as that. Syndication worked, fair wages for base pay works, the right to your image works, the right to own your voice works. @sagaftra
