It gives me goosebumps and makes me teary when I look back and see how undoubtedly a source greater than me kept my head above the water in my darkest times, gave me strength that I didn’t even know I had, gave me clear foresight at a time when everything around me became foggy and blurry. . It is without doubt that Allah has His own plans for us. When we think our world is shattering, indeed the divine force is doing it FOR us, as much as it would seem otherwise, to bring us to a far better place unimagined, to a far more elevated and beautiful state that we simply could not have landed in by our own selves. . وَيَمۡكُرُونَ وَيَمۡكُرُ ٱللَّهُۖ وَٱللَّهُ خَيۡرُ ٱلۡمَٰكِرِينَ (8:30) . Beshak, Allah is the best of planners. . I look within and around me; life is simple, love is abundant, faith is intact, will is stronger, purpose is clear. Considering the horrific times that we are living in, having all this is nothing short of a miracle. Ya Allah shukar Alhamdulillah! . Use me God. What a find! Major flashback here to my very first magazine cover shoot in 2008 with our very own Mr. Bond @saeedhumayun ! . This is where the cogs fit in both the fashion and the drama industry simultaneously for me back then– all thanks to the maestro behind the lens @ameanj for having me in this frame and who’s calm, peaceful, to-the-point approach made me feel right at home. . The makeup and look must’ve been @nabila_salon @thisisnabilanew which was to become my go-to hub and tribe. . . Soon after this I found myself opening my first scene of a drama serial ‘WILCO’ singing ‘teeni pawanda’ a sindhi folk song, no makeup, parched lips, arms, accessorized end to end with white plastic bangles, stretched above holding a matka on my head making my way up and down the hot dunes of the thar desert, nangay paun, draped in the local basti’s attire in the middle of the vast gruelling yet gorgeous sandscapes of Thar….kahan say kahan…..complete pendulum shift….all thanks to Mr. Bond right here, for seeing what he saw in this glamorous shoot of ours….the potential perhaps of placing me from this high end avatar to a raw rugged real earthy character. There was no social media back then, but I know I have a picture somewhere deep someplace of that tharri character.
