For so long I’ve sat on these photos not wanting to post them for no other reason than the thought that I didn’t look good enough or like what I’d envisioned I’d look like in this shoot. The most phenomenal photographer @alysafeephotography made this whole afternoon so amazing and I felt amazing doing it. Then when I got the photos I thought ‘wow these are incredible’ but I felt TERRIBLE Alysa didn’t have a better model. I thought I looked gangly and old and ‘not the way I used to look’. I thought that anyone else in these photos would look insanely amazing but I just wasn’t hitting that mark. I was talking to a friend the other day and she told me ‘you’ve never been aware of how beautiful you are’. And it really struck me. I told her about the trepidation I felt in posting these shots and she looked at me like I was nuts and said she adored the photos. It’s funny isn’t it, that you can do so much ‘work’ and go through so much and gain self awareness and even grow an entire human and still not appreciate your own beauty inside AND out. I just want to share with y’all that you’re amazing and beautiful and whatever ‘standards’ you hold for your own beauty are bullshit. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. No matter what phase of life you’re in. I will continue to be human and have self doubt and be self conscious however I’d like to be more honest about it. Change is hard and seeing my body (inc skin, hair, muscles) change after having a baby has had an impact I don’t think I fully realised until that conversation with my friend. I’ll be working on it ☺️ Anyway, if you’ve read up until this point thanks for taking your time into the insights of my mind. You’re beautiful and I love ya

To the mama who made me and the bubu who made me a mama. This day feels surreal, I have always dreamed of being a mum and it is not lost on me how privileged I am to now be one. I’ve always had a deep love, understanding and appreciation for my mama and the sacrifices I knew she made becoming a mother but now being one myself I truly know the extent of it all. The total encompassing love you have for your babies, the knowing without a shadow of a doubt that you would go to the ends of the universe just so they wouldn’t ever have to feel pain or sadness. The sleepless nights, the tears, the grieving of your old self plus the road to discovering who you are on top of now being a mother and the looking down at your screaming Bub and still thinking ‘my gosh you are so worth every bit of pain I feel’. I will never ever be able to articulate how grateful I am to my mama. But ma somehow I think you already know. My favourite ladies and my bestest friends, my Lynne Joy and Isla Joy I love you both so much. Infinity x2 bazillion

Our baby is 2! The sweetest most kind hearted little smoosh, I’ve never come across another kid who loves animals, other kids and dancing quite as much as our Isla Joy. Every doggy we see it’s ’Isla pat puppy dog’ or if we walk past some kids it’s ’hello little girl or boy and me Isla 🙋🏼♀️’ then goes straight in for a cuddle and a hand hold. Every single morning she must put on a tutu and dance around the whole house even if it’s to the beat of her own drum, then add in a good morning smother of kisses for her ‘Muddy Boy’. The cheekiness, sass and independence of this girl is unbelievable and every person who comes in to contact with her leaves happier. I could never have dreamed how incredible she is! I am so lucky to be your mummy Isla. I love you so much princess, infinity x2. Happy Birthday 🤍

This little possum has a top tooth, has tried more foods than I can count and babbles MAMA among other words! I’m not sure she knows what she’s saying but I’m claiming it, her first word is definitely mama! She watches our mouths so intently when we try to teach her new words and she’s back in her dinosaur era roaring at everything. She whispers to herself and breathes like darth Vader when she’s bored and I honestly have never met a more smiley, laughable bub. Even through her first cold, our girl didn’t have a single day where she didn’t laugh and smile her way through it. We couldn’t be more in love with her, she is pure perfection 🥹

‘Two Two Cute’ 🩰, ballerina theme to celebrate the cutest little ballerina turning 2!! @aliciabanit ✨️💖. It was so satisfying seeing our vision come to life and making memories along the way, which is what Petal n Paper is all about. We, of course, had way too much fun picking out all the little bits at @spotlightstores. Our birthday girl especially loved all the tutu tulle! Petal n Paper custom creations included the tulle table skirt and little ballet bar. What a fun month this was. I loved driving this beauty around and going on adventures! We found our way easily with in car navigation, stayed safe with lane assist and it was a cinch to park with the 360 degree camera. I think my fav feature was the automatic opening and closing boot, it made it so much easier when my hands were full with shopping bags while also holding Isla.
