**Securing an official selection at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival, after already being recognized at the India International Film Festival of Boston, is a huge achievement for us!** 🎬 „Soch: A Perception“ was a labor of love, created against all odds. Shooting in the freezing winter of Shimla during the COVID-19 lockdown presented challenges we never anticipated. With markets closed, even finding basic items like nails was impossible, and organizing set decorations became a distant dream. But the greatest thing was the team. They had a clear mindset—they believed in the story and felt it needed to be told. Despite the lack of facilities, our actors never once made us feel like we were falling short. Everyone—from the cast to the technical crew—gave it their all. The technical team, especially, worked tirelessly, being the last to sleep and the first to rise each day. We couldn’t have done it without the incredible support of the locals who stepped in to help us when we needed it most. Completing this film under such tough conditions and with no finances truly feels like a dream come true. Thank you for believing in us! 🙏 #SochAPerception #CSAFF #IIFFB #IndieFilm #Shimla #LowBudgetFilm #VFX #Teamwork #DreamProject #BeliefInTheStory #hindifilms

@anahatfilms, in proud collaboration with @causeway_films, presents the psychological horror thriller THE MOOGAI, releasing in cinemas across Australia on October 31st.
I am glad I could witness a brilliant short film, Veni (2024), at Dharamshala International Film Festival 2024 @diff.india, (otherwise could have been missed because of time crunch). It is directed by @vishal.jejurkar and co-written by @snehal.kalpana. It’s a story about an old lady, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. She is loved and taken care by her family. The fact that she is suffering from a condition where one forgets things makes the story interesting. As a result, she is so subconsciously convinced about something which is otherwise in actuality. This makes us question about her relationship with woman in the family and acceptance of her womanhood. It raises the questions about the mentality of society towards girl-child birth, and the deep-rooted prejudice towards acceptance of a girl-child even after loads of years are passed once the girl child is born. It’s a strong take on a woman’s acceptance of womanhood. And that just hits it. Veni exposes this information in a beautiful and subtle way and indeed leaves you with quite an experience. While raising these disturbing questions, it does bring a smile on your face in one of the outro-scenes where the son-in-law braids her hairs!! It also provides a glimpse of hope towards end, when another character played by @anjalipatilofficial, who is the subject of denied ‘girl-hood’, hopes to be graced with a daughter (a girl child), and that’s what makes the film solely meaningful in the given setup. . . 🍿Veni (2024) 🎬 Directed by – Vishal Jejurkar 📑 Screenplay by – Vishal Jejurkar, Snehal Kalpana 🎞️ Genre – Shorts
