soil mycelium captured by @joey.plemons under a microscope 🔬 mycelium, which is the thread-like part of fungi, is crucial for soil and plant health. 🍄 it helps improve the soil’s structure, making it better at holding water and letting air in, which plants need to grow 🍄 it also forms partnerships with plant roots, helping them absorb vital nutrients like phosphorus and nitrogen healthy, robust, and undisturbed systems of mycelium are key in improving the health of our soil. this relationship between soil, mycelium, and plant life makes plants stronger against diseases and tough conditions, while also keeping the soil rich and healthy by breaking down organic material 🪱 our goal is to create healthier soil & healthier people through diverting urban food waste from landfills and into the hands of small farms with compost systems. more to come.
Very excited to announce the first dinner in our Regenerative Supper Club series, a series of full-circle dinners aiming to build a better food system from soil to plate. ♻️ Come enjoy a 5 course farm-to-table feast at @littlecityfarmla inspired by the abundance of fall produce, plus drinks and inspiring conversations about being active participants in healing our food system planet. Farmer Ben (@farmerbenconsulting) will lead us in a discussion about the importance of soil health for our future, and the Dirt Girls will share about their mission to divert food waste away from landfills through community based initiatives and regenerative farming. 🪱🌱 Ingredients will be sourced right off the farm and waste will be composted onsite, creating a full circle, low-waste experience good for us and the Earth. 🥕 RSVP now at 🔗 in b i o.
