Vulnerable post here… I didn’t think there was actually a video of me dancing for the first time in a decade … without pain and feeling a sense of freedom… but @aishianeyes sent me this from Camp Protégé last week and I had to share 💛 I’m sharing because I’m in awe of my body’s potential to heal despite 5 hip surgeries. I’m grateful to have let myself “fail” enough to show up in full honesty in this re-entry into moving. Im recognizing my growth in self love as I move with more knowledge and acceptance instead of harsh judging and expectations. I’m proud for recognizing that I NEED to dance for no one else but myself. It’s a long journey to relearn things… but I share in hopes to encourage others to not give up ever and I share as a squeeze to my incredible body , heart, mind and spirit. I am having a moment of awe not in the outcome but in the joy this moment has brought me deep deep within✨

I’ve waited so long…. I wait every year for the beloved experience that Camp Protégé holds . The magical space, the magical people and diving into an unplugged week that offers so much connection. ✨ This year the theme was celebrating vulnerability, returns to self and what really matters…..to strength, love & play. Experiencing a pain free body for the first time in a decade was almost unimaginable. Practicing sitting in pride and gratitude for the willingness to place myself back into dance in a new way with a new body… one that doesn’t have what it did but is now fueled by experience and the deep desire for self love. This is just the beginning of my curiosity of how I will move through this next chapter…. But I know my soul needs to DANCE!!! In this video I have to point out @_shelbypatterson 🥹🥹🥹…. This is what it’s about… 3 knee surgeries later a profound return to dance and just beaming light and inspiration! YOU were one of my favorite things to witness this Camp. I love you so much 💛 Thank you to my special faculty, assistants, staff, family and all the dancers!!! And always need a shout out to @ktookey who is my beloved partner in this magical week.
