Patti was my stand-in on The Mist. She had endless energy and was the most positive and lovely spirit. We became fast friends during my time in Halifax – she was so welcoming and generous, taking me golfing and always up for a chat. She was a force and raised an enormous amount of money to bring new technology to cancer patients in Halifax. Very sad news this morning to hear of her passing. We had briefly spoken just days ago. Rest in peace, Patti 💔
Contrary to public perception, working as a model is not necessarily a glamorous existence. Over the 15 years I was in the fashion industry I experienced labor trafficking, I worked for free, I worked for clothing, I worked for “exposure.” I had clients that apparently never paid. I was sexually harassed, verbally, financially and emotionally abused, physically endangered on shoots, I escaped an attempt at sex trafficking… and I consider myself one of the lucky ones. The good news is that the #FahionWorkersAct would provide basic protections to models so that the industry can take a positive step forward. And it’s been passed in the NY state Senate and Assembly! So, @govkathyhochul, please take the final step and sign the #fashionworkersact into law.
