I first saw @kaelafaloon’s dance class when @irisliuofficial posted a video of herself taking it last year. What I saw was women dancing in heels, liberated, embodied and confident. They were full of themselves, supporting each other and having FUN! It was the polar opposite of how I felt at the time — which was incredibly lost, unseen, insecure and just wholly disconnected from mySelf. When I saw those women dancing, I had an intense gut response that screamed “I NEED THIS!” Despite the whole thing truly scaring the shit out of me, I signed up for Kaela’s class because I knew that when my gut screamed at me like that, I didn’t have a choice. I had to listen to her. Being mentored by @kaelafaloon for the past 10 months has transformed me. Period. The woman I wanted to be when I signed up in July 2023 is the woman I *AM* in this video today. It took time, dedication, hard work, courage and pushing through a shit ton of uncomfortable feelings. And while the dancing I see me doing in this video is dope, it really is secondary, because how I FEEL when I do it is unmatched. 🤌🏻😮‍💨 Slide #2 is me in my second class on July 12, 2023. 🥹 I would share video from my first class but I was too insecure to even get filmed that day (which says a lot).🥺💔 The growth between the two is amazing to me. But I also love that reserved, insecure girl dancing in slide #2 because SHE was the brave one who said yes to trying something that intimidated her. And I wouldn’t be the woman I am today, dancing in heels, liberated, embodied and confident if she didn’t have the bravery to honor her gut and show up in the first place. Massive shout out to @_linneathorne and @nabilahossainofficial for bringing the heat in this trio!
