Ik heb de zin “Ik wil niet bijdragen aan de polarisatie” heel veel gehoord. Maar polarisatie ontstaat niet door de waarheid te vertellen. Het ontstaat doordat we de waarheid niet onder ogen durven te zien. De waarheid spreken verdeelt niet; het is de eerste stap naar rechtvaardigheid. De verdeeldheid ontstaat pas daarna, in hoe we kiezen om erop te reageren.
De waarheid is geen wapen; het is een licht. En als je het voorrecht hebt om dat licht te laten schijnen, dan heb je de verantwoordelijkheid om dat ook te doen.
Maar jouw stem is niet alleen van jou—het is een vonk. Het kan anderen moed geven, mensen die bang zijn, zich alleen voelen, en moeten weten dat ze niet vergeten worden.
Als je nog niet hebt gesproken, is het nog niet te laat. Maar de tijd dringt. Vraag jezelf af: wat ga je aan je kinderen vertellen over waar je stond toen het ertoe deed? Wat kun je tegen jezelf
