I remember thinking I must have fallen asleep with the TV on and some crazy distopian movie is playing. I know people who ran out of that dust cloud and walked for miles to get home or to some place that felt safe. I remember thinking, was that a feeling we’d ever feel again? I knew someone who didn’t make it out of the rubble that day. I remember my chest being tight until I heard from everyone I love and know who lives and works in NYC. And I remember how we all came together as one. To grieve. To pray. To help. To do better.
