Goodbye Barcelona. What a glorious time we’ve had. My gorgeous daughter Ellie got married to my delightful new son-in-law in front of close family and friends, and the sun shone all day long. Some of you have asked to see the dress I wore to my daughter’s wedding. Well, therein lies a story. As we’re encouraged to go ‘green’ these days, I decided to hire a dress from @theofficialselfridges rental. I found the one I liked back in June and booked it for delivery the day before I flew to Barcelona. The day before it was due to arrive, I received an email to say the order had been cancelled because the person who rented it before me had damaged it so badly that it had to be ‘retired.’ What were they doing in it… cage fighting? Anyway, luckily a nearby second hand designer clothing agency had this @saloniofficial dress for sale which happened to match the pedicure I had already had done for the frock that went missing in action. So all a bit last minute, but I got there in the end with a little help from an excellent cut from @nando.magusimoes and colour @ryanhauxwell from @richardwardhair and eyebrow technician Caroline @neikidbeauty who tamed my Dennis Healy hedgerows – all before I flew out. It was a glorious weekend and now I look like an exhausted wreck! #motherofthebride

A friend was having a business meeting @dunelmuk HQ in Leicester today and I piggybacked and cadged a look round the bespoke curtains and blinds section. I didn’t even know they did made to measure! Wow – what a set up. I met the skilled cutters before seeing the huge sewing department and speaking to a man doing invisible hem stitching who has been sewing for 28 years! Then the finished curtains are inspected and hung on hooks so they don’t get dirty. I saw a couple of VIP deliveries but my lips are sealed! I also met the fab design team who were coming up with interiors ideas for cushions, chairs etc up to 2026! Considering Dunelm started as a ‘seconds’ market stall run by Bill and Jean Adderley in Leicester in 1979, it’s done pretty well for itself! This isn’t an ad, by the way. I was genuinely just there as a fan. The last photo is St Pancras station (I went by train) which has to be one of the most stunning in the world. . #leicester #dunelm
