More than EVER before I know in my heart 💙🦋the CHANGE is coming for #pwme off the back of the science 🧬 to date 🦠 & the horror of Covid-19 which ultimately kicked everyone up the bum to look seriously into what a viral infection is capable of – it’s not new and it ain’t mysterious or bizarre 😂 There have been #millionsmissing for years upon years and groups of dedicated scientists #polybio #decodeme working with very little funding for this horrendous condition… The absolute fools #pacetrial – many with their vested interests – & any other specialists who forgot how to read – & dared to coin a physiological (severely disabling) disease as “all in the mind” are about to eat humble fucking pie 🥧 Now don’t mince my words! #mentalhealth & illnesses of the mind are horrific. In my case secondary depression infiltrated during the 2nd year – the word secondary here is key 🔑 I was unable to clear the viral load from blood 🩸 for a long time; unusual, but meant I couldn’t be “dismissed.” Prescribing graded exercise to a person with M.E. is like asking a person with a broken leg to hop on it. Thank goodness the NICE guidelines changed in 2021. Happy Halloween my fellow witches! Do I recommend it? Hell, yes 🙌 *The dark (pretty fck’d up ending 😂) 👀 took me by surprise – in an utterly satisfying way.* The pace was relatively consistent but picked up speed in the last few chapters! It’s a murder mystery in a gothic, academic setting. Yummy! Reading this you’ll get swept 🧹 into the 🌆 adventure 💨 with a young & likeable female art historian, Ann, who gets to go to work in the wonderful but hungry NYC 🌃 She tells the story from her perspective, leaving behind a troubled 😕 past, which gets unravelled as her journey continues… “Fate” intervenes & our protagonist sort of “accidentally” ends up at the Met Cloisters in Upper Manhattan – which wasn’t the original plan! But, life is what happens while we humans are busy making plans?! When one door 🚪 slams shut in ya face, another opens & all that jazz 😂 The Cloisters is a real museum which I sadly haven’t (yet!) visited! But, I loved the description(s) – experienced vicariously from home🛌 🛋️ I am lucky 🍀 reading has almost always been an accessible superpower 🦸♀️ with #mecfs for me 💙 The story (overall) captures the complexity of career ambition & ruthless competition, survival, friendship, love & grief. With some shocking twists. It’s a “dog eat dog” environment, literally, & even those you’d least expect might be murderous when the shit hits the fan… Ann is thrown into a “mission” with Rachel (similar age – but v.different life, as an orphaned heiress) They are both working with art dealers seeking a pack of 15th century Italian tarot cards, under a guy called Patrick. Rachel has an interesting relationship with their “boss” Patrick – the narrative doesn’t neglect to include the “predatory” nature of older men who give young women their “opportunity” to shine ✨ 😂 revealed in a subtle (but obvious!) manner. Vulnerability can be sniffed & advantage taken, a mile off! Other characters like Leo were realistic & well written!

“6.30” is the name of the dog & he can practically speak English woof woof 🐶 & (obviously) stole my heart ❤️ This story has everything (& more) that sparks my personal curiosity 🥰 BUT it’s written in such a clever way I know it’ll hold the attention of “most” people… even if we don’t share the same interests. It’s got heart and soul. At the forefront it’s about Women In Science – “dreaming big” & having the balls to say, “F You” – politely – by “balls” ⚽️ ⚽️ think bigger & higher up 😜 Love, Loyalty (Dogs!) Baking, Chemistry, Sports 🏃♂️ 🚣♀️ What’s not to like? Well… Death, Loss, Sexism & Abuse is in the mixture 🖤 But the negative(s) – despite being hard to stomach – do not overpower the positives. Bonnie Garmus (absolute genius!) has sprinkled so much humanity into this bake 🥧 that the finished product is nothing short of a masterpiece. It might be my favourite book 📖 yes – like – ever… There’s a storyline around the “entertainment business” & “marketing” too 📺 🎭 Elizabeth Zott isn’t a real person but I’d love to be her friend if she was. She’s a gifted Chemist and a new Mum – with a traumatic past who also happens to be an exceptional chef 👩🍳 & lands her own TV show; What ever the producer(s) have in mind Zott has a tendency to do the opposite! Ultimately, Zott inspires housewives to release their FULL potential with a whopping injection of confidence & self esteem; SPOILER ALERT one of the wives in her audience becomes a heart ❤️ surgeon… highly encouraged by Zott who says well, why not? Set in the sixties it’s funny, daring & unconventional with lots of other people & complex characters glittered ✨ throughout. This is about “community power” ✨Autonomy, trust, belonging 💥 READ THIS BOOK 📖 * Robin Hood vibes 🏹 My good mate nicknames me RH 😂 If 25% agree could we be in for a good chance to “topple” from the terrible management of our current world 🌍 to solid fair progression? Great changes from one book? A dream there is an alternative world where it’s not a case of the rich getting richer while the poor get poorer. Some truths held up a mirror🪞 I was embarrassed – as a human 😳 – to reflect. Change/transformation 🐛 🦋 is often feared but it’s the only way to evolve – stagnation, misinformation & denial should be feared more. There can be beauty in tradition; if it’s not broken, don’t fix it? But some things are very broken 💚 🗺️ An “urgent unmasking” 🎭 “of some of the most insidious yet overlooked ideas of our era.” Burying my snout into this gave me an education & a sniff of hope, despite some of the dire political & environmental circumstances we endure in 2024. I won’t delve into capitalism, neoliberalism & politics. Or plough through the complexity of where it’s all gone distastefully sour – Instead, I’ll end with something “right” which happened (recently) in England, off the back of something else that happened which was unfathomably “wrong.” Look at the U.K.’s seaside 🏖️ town, Southport & how they responded (as a community) to the latest tragic events; dignity, compassion & ultimately “decision-making” between them, outside of the Government. The townspeople rapidly – hands on – fixed damage from the racist riots; coming together imminently to fund small local shops attacked & honouring the victims- little girls lost 💖💖💖 – with spectacularly organised flower displays – tended to daily, looked after with routine, precision & respect. Plus, a beautifully conducted vigil. All while raising thousands for the families affected. This book serves as a reminder of such “community power.” And highlights grave & unforgivable injustice on an insurmountable scale. Hello 👋 I’m still M.E. 💙 I went from high flying in my career #actress @historyvikings @netflix @bbc @itv various fun roles! Completing my @spartanrace trifecta 💪🩱🏃♀️& more! To buying my own London 🏡 (independently) #firsttimehomebuyer – to being bedridden & dependent on my partner, at times even to wash my hair 🧼 💕 For a long time I couldn’t get out in a wheelchair ♿️ #dysautonomia – sitting up (even in bed!) was out of reach. I caught a virus 🦠 2018 which is still affecting my mobility (physically, cognitively) 2024 💩 #mecfs #chronicpain This is NOT “new” or “mysterious.” There are #millionsmissing with it. Sadly. And many more with #longcovid – as predicted. I’m hopeful @decodemestudy puts us on the map 🗺️ & scientists like @polybiorf continue pioneering 💥 I’m in a fortunate percentage 🍀 to see improvement – though slow (and sometimes unpredictable!) I hold on to this, dearly ❤️ ☀️ I used to feel like there was an “old” Jennie and a “new” one. I grieved my old self… but (more recently) I’m accepting I’m still just ME… 😊 hence the collection of mixed pics! #tbt I encourage you to look up #severeme today 🙏 on #severemeawareness 8th August 🌻 As a person at the milder end (which is still disastrous to navigate) having experienced only small tastes of the more severe… I can vouch for the monsterous gravity of #me I pray 🙏 for the science to continue to catch up. And for the unforgivable GAP between “doctors” and science to bridge 🌉 I could not clear a nasty virus from my blood 🩸 for some time 🕰️ (years – this part is unusual, but NB* viruses do persist in tissues too!) EBV Viremia was my diagnosis with ME/CFS… and although I had a good infectious diseases team, no one could help… severe viral hepatitis and other things (pesky kidney stones, chronic UTI’s etc) hindered my recovery… my immune system took a hit 💥 * I post today for any person suffering with the same (or similar) in hope they feel heard. And to encourage healthy folk to donate to @mefoggydog and post a PJ pic to acknowledge #severemeday 💙🦋 * Please sign letter ✉️ for a protocol in our #nhs hospital 🏥 for Severe ME.
