I remember Chini as this college girl who used to make it a point to write to me after every film review of mine in t2. She would some times wholeheartedly agree, some times disagree vociferously. Her father, the famous journalist Gautam-da would always greet me with the joke: “Aamar meye toh shudhu tomaar lekha pore, aamar lekha patta dey naa.” Then I heard Chini’s gone abroad to study. But a couple of years back, while scrolling through social media, I suddenly find her doppelgänger opposite Jeet in a mainstream Bangla film looking absolutely stunning as the leading lady. I checked her Instagram and it was actually her – Lahoma Bhattacharya! Chini is here in the Shantanu-Tota dance track Jaani Naa Maane adding both sugar and spice. It’s a friendly appearance, a guest appearance, a really special appearance. And I’m so glad to have met her and worked with her after all these years.
