Mallika Dua Instagram – 3 years today since Papaji left for the stars and just yesterday something wonderful happened.
My older sister Bakul was invited by the Shri Ram school to give a keynote on mental health. As she was about to leave, the principal came to her with a message from her 80 year old father. Zoom in to read or scroll all the way down for the text 🙂
Her father was posted in Jaffna, Sri Lanka in 1987 as part of the IPKF when our Papaji went to cover LTTE there for Doordarshan. They became great friends during their time there. The 80 year old gentleman sent a hand written letter and photos of that time for us. Each word of this letter is relatable to us and each person that loved and experienced papaji.
Its a massive privilege and blessing to have so many people know and love your greatest love. Cheers to a life lived large, 60ml to be precise 🥃 ✨🐐
The Letter says
“ Dear Bakul,
I had known Vinod Dua ji for a very long time by watching his shows on TV. But I personally met him in August 1987 in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. I had gone there as a part of IPKF (Indian Peace Keeping Force). My job was to take control of the Jaffna airport. Vinod ji had come there as part of Doordarshan. We spent a few days together and visited many places together in Sri Lanka. He was always full of fun. He was so generous and a fine gentleman. I shall quote two instances. Vinod Ji bought a bottle of scotch whiskey when he learnt that I dont drink rum which was provided by air force. We enjoyed that together.
One day he asked me if I had enough money since I had left Delhi on very short notice. He opened his wallet and counted six thousand rupees and gave me three thousand saying we should share it. It was such a nice gesture for a person whom I met for the first time. We remained in touch till my posting to Shillong. I was shocked when I learnt he was no more. May god bless his soul “
