Sarah Lian Instagram – It ain’t a Chinese wedding without some 🍵.
I was already emotionally spent from my exchange of vows that I didn’t realise I’d be tearing up during the tea ceremony. My village of a family has helped raise me since my return to Malaysia and serving tea was the least I could do for all they have done for me. It felt like such an honour to have them celebrate with me. My sister has been in the trenches with me and I just lost it when she said she’d always be there for me. 🥹
My new family has welcomed me with open arms and they’ve already seen me cry like a goon, so it looks like we’re a lot closer now. 🙆🏻♀️
On a lighter and more sustainable note, I got to use my @khoonhooi_gold dress for a classic look and also borrowed some special wedding themed items from @itsjessicashen, which I’ve gladly “pay-it-forward” to the next bride-to-be. I bought my wedding coordinator’s unused teacup husks for the 80 cups of tea we needed to serve to our extended family. Plus, I asked our wedding decorators to reuse some of these items for our dinner reception to also minimise wastage.
