Taylor Hale Instagram – Yup, that’s me. I bet you’re wondering how I ended up here.
I’ve spent years talking about how I can’t run a single mile. Three months ago, it hit me – I turn 30 on the last day of the year. I am of perfectly able body and mind – the joke of not running a mile actually isn’t cute.
So there I was, scrolling the clock app. RunTok somehow turned into HyroxTok, and before I knew it I was a package of personal training sessions and new gym membership deep – and on the waitlist for Anaheim Hyrox. I could run a single mile, so how hard could 8K and a few workouts in between be?
Delusion and confidence will take you far! After 3 months of training (and a last minute all-nighter and 5AM flight,) I walked into the Anaheim convention center in my bubblegum pink set.
My goal was to finish under two hours. I clocked in at 2:02. Special shoutout to the extra lap I ran that was almost exactly…2 minutes.
As hard as I am on myself, I can’t call this a failure. For a jet-lagged, sleep deprived, inactive first timer: this isn’t so bad.
What’s most important isn’t the accomplishment of finishing alone. It’s that on a random Fall day I decided to do something completely foreign, and I saw it through to the end. I’m physically and mentally stronger, I’m confident in ways I’ve never been before in the gym, and I truly feel like I can take on any challenge thrown my way.
So there it is. Best body by 30 wasn’t just an aesthetic push. It was a full blown commitment to getting reacquainted with my body as it says hello to a new stage of life 🤗
@hyroxamerica …got any tickets for Vegas? I’m looking for a doubles partner 😅
