You are born a King. James Earl Jones holds the key to so many parts of our memories, our hearts. My husband and I were watching this very clip a few weeks ago, moved, still, by his power. Thought I’d share it here, if you guys haven’t ever seen it. Definitely worth the watch. What a force of nature. In every medium. May he forever rest, his race most surely won.
This week’s #RoadToReading is special. It’s “The Night Before Christmas” by Clement C. Moore. I carried this gift from her “Big Aunty,” my sister, Onyi (@ceou117 ) all the way with us on our trip. She gifted it to each of her new nieces and nephews and this is the first year Adaiba understands books! I want to start a tradition of reading it to her each Christmas Eve, for as long as she’ll let me 🥹. This is what I love about the holidays: family time, togetherness, traditions. I can’t believe my daughter is almost ONE! We are having a blast learning numbers and reading new books together with all of you📚. This week’s #RoadtoReading book is “One,” by Ruth Forman and illustrated by Katura Gaines. This book introduces young children to counting from one to ten while celebrating themes of friendship and community. My daughter loves this book. If you listen closely, you can hear her saying ONE! The esteemed, two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage, @lynnnottage gifted us this beautiful book. She has been a multigenerational voice for the unseen, making room for new ideas and stories. Her selection here for baby Beanie was perfect. Thank you, Lynne, for sharing this book with us.
