Ethiopia was uncomfortable. But that’s where you grow the most. Some lessons are learned by simply observing the community around you. Ethiopia has taught me a series of lessons that I will take with me everywhere I go. When you get to explore a place like Omo Valley, where you finally get the chance to truly focus and take in the world around you, you too would want to linger on every minute just a little longer. My experiences in Ethiopia made me come to terms with a simple truth: we were made to be one with nature. That is maybe why the color green gives me such a sense of calm, why the sounds of rain help me meditate, and why I look for a gentle breeze when I need comfort. These discoveries may not have been unique in nature (pun intended), but isn’t that beautiful? A part of us all knows that nature provides us with warmth, comfort, and peace. As someone who shares my achievements publicly, I know what it feels like to be on both sides—creating and consuming. I’ve put my wins out there, from milestones to moments that mean a lot to me. But here’s the thing, even as a creator, I catch myself comparing. Seeing people on the buying dream houses, walking the ramp, or turning into actors can sometimes make me think, Why not me? But over time, I’ve realized something really important: just because an achievement isn’t posted for the world to see doesn’t mean it’s any less meaningful. We’re all on our own journey, and we all have different goals. And not every accomplishment needs to be celebrated publicly. It’s easy to get caught up in the comparison trap, especially when everyone’s wins are on display. But don’t forget, the value of an achievement is in what it means to you. Whether you choose to share it or keep it personal, it’s still just as valid. Secondly, stop and think – is that even a goal you ever had? Many times we get swept up in others celebrations and compare ourselves – not realising that we probably never even wanted that. Sigh. The contradictions of social media. On one hand, I loooove celebrating publicly with my online family – on the other I think about the downsides too. All in all, it’s important to be aware – so you never fall into the negative loop.
