Ethiopia was uncomfortable. But that’s where you grow the most. Some lessons are learned by simply observing the community around you. Ethiopia has taught me a series of lessons that I will take with me everywhere I go. When you get to explore a place like Omo Valley, where you finally get the chance to truly focus and take in the world around you, you too would want to linger on every minute just a little longer. My experiences in Ethiopia made me come to terms with a simple truth: we were made to be one with nature. That is maybe why the color green gives me such a sense of calm, why the sounds of rain help me meditate, and why I look for a gentle breeze when I need comfort. These discoveries may not have been unique in nature (pun intended), but isn’t that beautiful? A part of us all knows that nature provides us with warmth, comfort, and peace. Despite our differences—whether it’s our language, our clothes, or our looks—we are 99.9% the same. It’s that tiny 0.1% but underneath it, we’re all human. We connect on so many levels. Seeing how everyone has different roles and perspectives, but is navigating life with the same mix of struggles, makes me realize that we are all in this together. We all make mistakes and are figuring out life, just like everyone else. This realization has made me much more compassionate, both during my travels and in my everyday life. When I come back from a trip, I try to carry this kindness with me and I truly believe travelling will force you to be kind too. Do you agree? Traveling taught me that happiness cannot be found in big adventures forever. Social media might make you feel that way, but – now, living on this small island in Indonesia called Lombok, I’ve realized that true happiness often lies in the boring things. I lived in a cozy house, and even though I didnt go on massive adventures, I’ve found so much joy here. The kindness of the people, the beauty of the garden, my journaling, and the sunsets have brought me a deep sense of happiness. Infact, Lombok has given me something even more lasting than happiness —peace and contentment. I feel at ease in my heart. Life is full of both happy and sad days. Not every day will be perfect. But there’s always something small you can do to make your day a little better. Even something as simple as greeting your mom, calling her up, or sharing a quick chat with loved ones can make a difference. For me, hitting the gym is my go-to mood booster. Find that one simple activity that doesn’t take much time or effort but brings you joy. Having such simple activities can really help when you’re going through bad days. What is your version of ‘TRUTH’? FUN FACT: This concept means so much to me, that I got it tattooed on my arm! 😛 We often see truth as an absolute concept, but the reality is that it’s highly subjective. Each of us grows up in a unique environment, influenced by our culture, societal norms, and personal experiences, which shape our version of what is right and wrong. This becomes our truth. Travelling has taught me that truth is not a singular, universal concept but a spectrum of perspectives. What is considered right or beautiful in one culture can be completely foreign to another. It’s important to recognize that while our truths come from our background and beliefs, there’s no single “correct” truth. (MOSTLY) As travelers, our role is not to adopt or judge these different truths but to respect them. Also, this idea isn’t limited to traveling; it applies everywhere. Understanding that there are various truths has helped me navigate daily life, where different perspectives challenge and sometimes confuse me. It has made me less judgmental and more open-minded in my interactions. Ultimately, while people follow different versions of truth, there’s one universal message: to be kind. Share this with an adventurer 💜🥰 My first bikepacking trip in Bavaria, Germany was nothing short of incredible and has to be one of my FAV experiences of 2024. Bikepacking felt like hiking but faster! And the views? The views were breath-taking! Biking through charming European towns and setting up our own tent each night was a highlight, especially with the Milky Way in full view above us. This was a high strain level trip which also happens to be my favourite kinda trips hehe. Bikepacking was an amazing experience and I can’t wait to go on another one already!!
