Skateboarding emerged in the 1950s in the United States as an alternative for surfers on days without waves. Over time, it took to the streets and became a symbol of urban culture, connecting people and transforming cities into true playgrounds. In Brazil, skateboarding arrived in the 1970s and gave rise to a vibrant scene marked by iconic names like Sandro Dias, known as “Mineirinho,” a six-time world champion in vertical skating, and Bob Burnquist, considered one of the greatest skaters of all time.
In 2020, skateboarding made its Olympic debut in Tokyo, bringing medals for Brazilian athletes, including @rayssalealsk8, “The little fairy,” from Imperatriz, Maranhão. At just 13 years old, Rayssa won silver in the Street category, becoming a national sensation and a symbol of resilience and youthful talent. Today’s look pays tribute to Rayssa and her groundbreaking achievements, celebrating her as a role model for young athletes and a testament to how skateboarding connects urban culture and Olympic excellence. | Posted on 12/Jan/2025 01:41:37
