BIG EXCITING NEWS! In June last year I sat down with one of my heroes, the author of my absolute FAVOURITE childhood book: Elizabeth Honey. She very kindly granted me a meeting so I could pitch to her the vision I had for a feature film adaptation of her Australian classic: 45 47 Stella Street (and everything that happened). This book means more to me than I can explain. In the words of another of my heroes, Nora Ephron, “When you read a book as a child, it becomes a part of your identity in a way that no other reading in your whole life does.” If you were also shaped by this story, you’ll be delighted to know that Elizabeth is just as wonderful and witty as you’d hope your favourite childhood author might be. I hope you’ll also be delighted to know that our visions for a film adaptation aligned and we are now in the early stages of developing STELLA ST THE MOVIE! I’m honoured that the incredibly talented @vidyarrrr and @baldwinalistair have come on board to write the film, and continue to pinch myself that I’m producing this dream project with my best friend Bron through our company @toughcrowd.pictures Thank you to @screenaustralia for being so supportive in these first stages of development. It’s very early days, but as Henni says: Stay tuned. Beam in. You ain’t heard nothin’ yet. 🏡
I’ve been going to NGV’s free exhibitions since I was a kid so to be invited to the Gala opening of the Triennial was prettyyyyyy cool 🍌 #ngvgala

My short film directorial debut is premiering in Sydney at @flickerfest this January! Last year I wrote ASIAN MALE, 60s, LEAD, a comedy about the actors who aren’t Chris Hemsworth. A small group of incredibly talented friends got together to help me make the film, starring my Dad – soon to become Australia’s sweetheart. And now we’re gonna be up on the big screen at Bondi Beach! Nervous and excited to hear what you think. Follow @toughcrowd.pictures for the trailer drop on Friday! Beautiful BTS stills @takayah

Tonight, ASIAN MALE, 60s, LEAD, my directorial debut, premieres to a sold out screening at @flickerfest 🥳 this film was an absolute labour of love made by an incredible crew, about how the screen industry is built on the strength and resilience of artists and technicians who you may never know by name. Feeling such deep gratitude to our magnificent crew for bringing this film to life, and can’t help but think of the similarly amazing people I’ve worked with in LA – from background actors, to grips, to writers assistants, to hair stylists, to accountants, to editors – who make our industry what it is, many of whom are currently evacuated from their homes, avoiding toxic air, or, most heartbreaking of all, have lost their homes altogether. Celebrating our film tonight is bittersweet, and I’m sending love to all those in LA who are suffering right now.

It was inevitable: we have a podcast now! So delighted to finally be able to share with you AT THE MOVIES (with Charlotte and Bron)! It’s an Australian film podcast made by two best friends, that is a little bit us learning about what makes a great Australian film and a lot of us gossiping about who we think is the bad boy of Australian Cinema (Baz Luhrman? Ben Mendelsohn? Bryan Brown?? Cast your vote in the comments). It’s like a cute discussion group for iconic Australian film, except it’s a sleepover and the people leading the discussion aren’t very good at sticking to the subject. Our very first episode is appropriately about the epic masterpiece that is: BAZ LUHRMAN’S AUSTRALIA. At The Movies (with Charlotte and Bron) could never hope to fill the Margaret and David shaped hole in your heart, but we hope we can at least inspire a rewatch of this absolutely beautiful and deranged piece of cinema. Available now where you listen to podcasts, link in bio. Animation by the incomparable @magicsteven
