Over the past week, I’ve been volunteering and I am deeply moved by just how many people have come together to help one another. The generosity, resilience and humanity within this city is powerful. In the midst of heartache and devastation, all you need to do is look up and you will see an army of people who are there helping. The city of dreamers is not without hope. It is filled with people who are dedicated to seeing their fellows rebuild and succeed. First responders, firefighters, paramedics, charity organizations, civilians, volunteers… you have my utmost respect and my deepest gratitude for all that you are doing for the city I love and the people I love. Thank you to everyone who has extended a helping hand. Big or small, every action counts. I am forever inspired by you.

I’ll tell you something pretty I learned this year. We are as happy as we contribute to the world. To contribute common decency and gentleness in the face of brutality or a broken heart. To give warmth and sincerity to all those you come across. To contribute humor and levity and to attempt to do the extraordinary. To contribute to this life by loving fiercely, creating boundlessly and above all, to connect to and to help your fellow man. We have something to do with the outcome of this life and this planet. The fads of apathy have long gone. I have seen too much life in those eyes of yours, this year. Thank you for reminding me just how beautiful this world is, simply by existing in the way you do. It’s been one hell of a year. I for one, can’t wait to see and better yet, live, the adventures of 2025 with you.

There is nothing more important than extending a helping hand and LA Mission’s work is a stellar example of a group coming together to help others with such care and decency. As we celebrate thanksgiving with our loved ones and consider the concept of gratitude, I think about how no matter what we have happening in our lives, there is no shortage of help you can extend to your fellow Man. What a gift. I’m grateful and filled with a whole lotta love. Wishing you all a very happy thanksgiving ♥️
