Where are they? Where are the missing Kenyans? It’s incredibly heartbreaking to hear that some young men have been found dead. This horrific reality is unfolding before us all. We must continue to speak out and push for accountability, even when it weighs heavily on our hearts, souls, and minds. There are parents, families and friends who are having to reconcile with the fact that their children have been cruelly taken from them. On the last image, there are contact numbers to report and get information on human rights violations. Share these and let’s hope we can continue to lend our voices where we can. #EndAbductionsKE

I wake up every day hoping for good news—that Kibet Bull, his brother, and the other young people abducted late last year are found safe. The rise in abductions of government critics in Kenya is alarming, illegal, and a glaring failure to protect citizens. We may feel helpless, but we’re not powerless. Let’s: • Support Human Rights Groups like the Kenya Human Rights Commission and Amnesty Kenya. • Join Community Initiatives like the Social Justice Centres Working Group. • Stay Informed through credible news sources. • Advocate for Policy Change to prioritize security and accountability. Collective action is how we protect our freedoms. Holding out hope for the families affected and saying a prayer for us all. #EndAbductions #HumanRights #JusticeForAll #AccountabilityNow #WhereAreThey

Happy New Year! 🎆 I hope we find the courage to thrive—even as we often have to fight to survive. I hope we dare to explore our gifts and expand our wealth, even as opportunities are compromised and our economy is plundered. I hope we embrace this truth—that we can love deeply, extend empathy, find joy, and cherish those we hold dear, even as we rise to defend our country and honor the lives we’ve lost. May strength and grace guide us. God bless. ✨ #HappyNewYear #2025 #LetsRise #GodSpeed #ItsOfficialWithJanetMbugua

Finally holding my Most Elite MC in Africa award! Huge thanks to Chris Kirwa, a true pioneer in the events world, for presenting this honor, as well as to @ccawardsafrica. Being an MC is more than holding a mic—it’s about commanding the room, creating memorable moments, and connecting deeply with the audience. It demands preparation, authenticity, and the ability to adapt when things go off-script. I’m inspired by the new generation of MCs from Kenya and honestly from the continent, who bring fresh ideas and energy to the craft. To aspiring MCs: this work takes passion, preparation, and presence—but it’s worth every moment. Here’s to celebrating the power of storytelling and stage presence! #MostEliteMC #PowerOfTheMic #NextGenMCs #PassionAndPresence #ItsOfficialWithJanetMbugua Filmed and edited by @cyrus.kanyi at @goldenice_runda
Spent the day dancing, jumping, and laughing my heart out at the @sheluv.ke event at Nairobi Club—and it was pure joy! 💃🏽 From workouts to great conversations, it was a beautiful reminder to let loose and pour into ourselves. Big love to all the amazing vendors and partners—@macicio_, @toomuchsauceke, @kingdom_bankke, @sheluv.ke—and to every woman who showed up for herself. 🫶🏽 Here’s to more moments of connection, fun, and growth! 🌟 #SheLuvKE #EmpoweredWomen #FunAndFitness #WomenSupportingWomen #CommunityVibes
Recently, the #EndFemicide protests in Kenya took an turn, reminding us of the critical need to pay attention—not just to overt acts of violence but also to the subtle remarks, policies, and actions that chip away at our human rights. Every dismissive comment, every ignored cry for justice, every failure to protect lives is a step backward. As a society, we must refuse to normalize this injustice. Let’s listen, act, and demand accountability. ‘The rights of every man are diminished when the rights of one man are threatened.’ – John F. Kennedy 📢 Call to Action: Speak up. Share stories. Hold power accountable. Self audit. Report. Pour in to yourself, to sustain your movementum 🙏🏾 #JusticeForVictims #EndGBV #HumanRightsMatter #GenerationEquality #ItsOfficialWithJanetMbugua #bts
This week gave me the fuel I need to power through the year ahead—because justice is what we’re fighting for. Here’s how I was honored to contribute: Pic 1 – Hosting an intimate influencer and storytelling session on Climate Justice, amplifying our collective African voices for this urgent cause, with TILT. More soon. (My outfit here is from @2nuboutique courtesy of @brianbabu Pic 2 – Moderating a session with my @intgenderchamps colleagues, featuring powerful insights from @odhiambomillie and @irunguhoughton on tackling both online and offline violence against women, especially those in political spaces. Pic 3 – Ahead of the #EndFemicideKE protest, pictured here with @lushangela_; tear-gassed but undeterred, reminded of the need to keep challenging a broken system. Pic 4 – Reflecting in a heartfelt conversation with @massawejapanni on life, social impact, and moving forward. Pic 5 – Honored to be listed as one of the women featured on @leadingladiesafrica’s list for social impact. This is not the time to stand by. Pay attention. Participate. Use your platform to elevate critical issues. The time for action is now. Still not over the uncalled for ambush by police during the End Femicide march, on human rights day, no less. I’ll reflect on this soon. Meanwhile, here’s hoping you have an inspired #JamhuriDay; Kenya is worth fighting for 🙏🏾🇰🇪 #JusticeNow #ClimateJustice #EndFemicideKE #SocialImpact #WomenInLeadership #LeadingLadiesAfrica #AfricanVoices #AdvocacyMatters #ItsOfficialWithJanetMbugua

The #EndFemicideKE march had barely begun when tear gas was dispersed. People are seeking shelter in stores, while armed men (police) roam the streets. We’re taking a moment to catch our breath and sincerely hope everyone remains safe. Stay safe, and let’s keep praying for this country because this is an affront to our rights 🇰🇪 Let’s keep saying their names ✊🏾🙏🏾 #HumanRightsDay #EndFemicide #OurRights #EndPoliceBrutality #TotalShutdownKE For details follow @usikimye_ @endfemicideke

A few years ago, I transitioned from mainstream media to amplify equality and critical conversations as an advocate, global moderator, author, and founder of @inuadada. In 2024, my conviction grew stronger. It was a transformative year—one of action for justice, fairness, and transparency. I joined thousands, online (through my #itsofficialwithjanetmbugua platform) and offline, demanding a better Kenya and a fairer world, rejecting what no longer serves us. As we reflect, we must honor the young men who lost their lives fighting for change, and stand against the injustices women face simply for existing. Kenya’s future depends on us. I’m a global citizen, and I’m proud to be Kenyan – proud that we’re standing up for ourselves and others. Great to be listed among the #Top100Kenyans2024 alongside some courageous voices; it’s also a reminder to keep the fire burning for justice, equality, and a brighter tomorrow. #JusticeForAll #KenyaForChange #ActivismMatters #ItsOfficialWithJanetMbugua #InuaDada

🌟 Would You Date Yourself? 🌟 I recently came across an article titled “Would You Date Yourself? A Lesson on Loving Yourself Before Others”—and it got me thinking. We often create these detailed lists of what we want in a partner—kindness, ambition, emotional intelligence, stability. But how often do we pause and ask ourselves, “Am I a reflection of this list?” Of course, there are moments when two people find themselves in difficult circumstances can grow together. But more often than not, if one person is doing the self-evaluation and growth while the other isn’t, it can lead to imbalance. What’s one thing on your list that you’re actively working on within yourself? Let’s grow together. 💛 Video by @cyrus.kanyi Make up by @mercymuthonie.makeup #ItsOfficialWithJanetMbugua #bts #WouldYouDateYourself #SelfLoveJourney #PersonalGrowth #HealthyRelationships #EmbraceYourBestSelf
